We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Wathey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do.
Synchronicity is a company created with intention, and has a distinct mission to share the positivity that yoga, health and wellness brought to my life with others. As we’ve seen over the past few months, Health & Wellness is more important now than ever before and that is why despite the difficult times we actually decided to expand. Prior to the pandemic, our sole focus was on creating engaged communities and unforgettable retreat experiences for our clients all over the globe. Since the pandemic essentially wiped out many instructors’ livelihoods, we’ve decided to innovate our approach and focus on providing exceptional value to the ones who want to do the same for others. Synchronicitys Consulting division was born out of the pandemic and our 5-month mentorship program provides Instructors and Studio Owners the tools necessary to grow their tribe and thrive online. We show them how to use and implement the power of technology, automation, and scaling to effectively leverage their voice to reach and help clients on a much, much larger scale. This in turn provides them with a sustainable income and creates a better world that all of us want to live in.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
The thing that sets Synchronicity apart from the rest is our desire and determination to truly transform the lives of others. A spontaneous trip to Bali, Indonesia years ago led me to discover the profound impact a daily yoga and mindfulness practice has on your mental health. Having experienced this first hand I deeply understand the essential role health and wellness professionals play in the lives of others. I think one of the positives that has come out of 2020 is that individuals are starting to classify physical and mental health as a necessity, rather than a luxury, and it is this realization that continues to propel us into a happier and healthier world. The thing that I am most proud of is our consistent ability to adapt to the times and always strive to find new and innovative ways to provide value to not only Instructors and Studio Owners, but society as a whole. It is with this determination that I strongly believe we are creating a better world for all of us to live in.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Playing tour guide is something I am very passionate about and is why I enjoy running retreats to some of the most breathtaking destinations in the world. If a friend were to visit me from out of state we would start the week-long vacation in Sedona exploring some of my favorite spots along Oak Creek Canyon. After exploring we would get lunch on the creek at L’Auberge and the time of year would determine if we were headed North or back towards the Valley. Should we head back to the Valley we would stop for a night or two at CIVANA, one of my favorite health and wellness inspired resorts for a relaxing local getaway filled with hiking, yoga, and lounging by the pool. I would then try to find some local events so they could ‘live like the locals do’ and my go-to would be a Debbie Popiel Sunset Yoga class which I hope would also include my favorite food truck, From The Wildflower. Some of the other dining staples would be a trip to Lux Coffee, Backyard Taco, and Snakes and Lattes to name a few.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I firmly believe that I am the sum of all of my experiences to date, and no matter the significance, they have all played a role in shaping who I am today. To pinpoint a select few would be a disservice to everyone else I have met because they too have played a role in my life. One such influence that I will mention though is my late mother, Dede, and that is because there is nothing that can prepare oneself for the loss of someone in such an influential position in your life at any age. It has made me realize that no matter the circumstances you are given you must always approach life with courage and compassion when interacting with the people you meet during your journey through life.
