We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Huenecke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity matters the most to me. I like to work with people who are honest and keep their word.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Worldwide Women’s Film Festival educates, supports, and empowers filmmakers in the collaborative endeavor of filmmaking while we shine a light on stories by women, and other diverse experiences across all genders. We started the film festival in 2018 and was amazing! Everyone was excited to have a film festival that highlighted women filmmakers. We have grown steadily each year except for 2121. We did not have a film festival in 2121 because of the pandemic. We started out as a for-profit business and it was only two of us. In 2121, we created the film festival as a non-profit. That has been a big learning curve for everyone. The selection of the board members and paperwork that goes into creating the non-profit was huge. We hired an attorney and an accountant that specialized in setting up non-profits and that was a great decision. They were wonderful at answering all the questions we asked them along the way. They filed the paperwork and worked with us when there were some issues in filling out the paperwork. We want everyone to know that we are inclusive of everyone and we love film. We are here to serve the filmmakers and filmgoers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I take visitors to Sedona for a few days. Hang out in the energy up there. We would do some shopping and hiking up there. Then we would go to Flagstaff for a few days. It is a fun place to visit. Everyone is really nice and cool up there. Next, we would go to the Grand Canyon and stay there for a day. After the traveling, we would end up in Cave Creek and eat on the patio at El Encanto restaurant.
