We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind the success of my business and my brand has been being authentically myself, honorable, trustworthy, having integrity, and being tenacious. It is important to be true to who are, and you will attract those that love you and want to work with you. Next, it is essential to build relationships and provide the best possible service while staying flexible to learn and meet the needs of each specific client. I genuinely care about every one of my clients and the growth of their businesses. These days there are a lot of shiny new things put in front of us every day. We can be enticed so easily to only find out it that shiny things were a waste of time and money. My reputation means the world to mean, therefore being honest and having integrity is the pillar of my brand. I would never entice a client to pay for anything more than they need or can afford. I do a lot of coaching when providing services to my clients to ensure they are getting the biggest bang for their buck. Lastly, being tenacious is how I built my business. You can never give up on your dreams, even if it feels out of reach. Things will be difficult sometimes, technology is ever-growing and changing, and there is always so much to learn. You must be willing to learn, grow, and overcome the many fears that can block us. If I do not know the answer to know how to do something, you can bet I am going to do my best to tackle it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I offer many services to support small business owners and authors at affordable rates; branding services, logo, design, website design, and graphic design. I work with each client to bring their dreams into reality; digital art, CD covers, book covers, and oracle card designs. I also offer online courses to support business owners in their own growth. I mostly work with spiritual based entrepreneurs as that is what I seem to attract the most, perhaps because I am one myself. The road to success is not always easy. I have had to overcome the many fears that were living in my little mind that would easily stop me from moving forward, like being seen and putting myself out there. I had to be open to learning and growing, and most importantly, I had to let go of caring about what others think and people-pleasing. People will judge, they will have opinions, there will be some that think you will fail. I had to learn to not let them get in my mind and just keep doing ME! I shifted the energy by knowing that I am always doing the best I can every day and the best for my clients always. I no longer held onto what others said, it just sort of started bouncing right off me. I had to learn to say no and put myself and my business first. I learned that if I am going to have to disappoint someone, it should not be me! Life can throw us some curveballs, tragic and hard lessons come and we must move through them to find the value and lesson we are to learn. I have learned that everything in my personal life affects my business. I used to wear two hats: personal and business. It has been so freeing to understand I only need one hat and that is to authentically be myself all the time. Being vulnerable is key for me, and I have learned it actually takes more courage to show people that side of you. When I started my business a few years back, it looked quite different than it does now. As I learn, grow, and evolve in my personal life, so does my business. Understanding your personal life has everything to do with your business is key to growing it! Being an entrepreneur is not always easy, but it is so rewarding in so many ways. It may not be for everyone, but I would not have it any other way and I love helping others step into being entrepreneurs themselves. The proudest moments I have are, watching those I have worked with take the tools and run with them, growing their businesses, and shining their light brightly in this world. There is nothing more that I enjoy than seeing others learn, grow, and succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to be outdoors! If I had someone come to visit me, I would first take them to Sedona, AZ. We would go on several of the beautiful hiking trails and maybe have lunch at the Chocolate Tree or Picazzo’s for a nice healthy light meal. Of course, no visit to Sedona is complete for me unless I stop in the Chapel of the Holy Cross to sit in the pews with that beautiful and have a little prayer time. I live in the small town of Payson in Northern Arizona. It is truly a beautiful place where it is cooler than Phoenix in the summer with an occasional snowstorm in the winter. I would take anyone visiting the Natural Bridge and we would go for some hiking at Water Wheel river crossings. We might take a class at the lavender farm in Pine, AZ, followed by a stop in to meet some locals and grab lunch and drinks at Bandits in Strawberry, AZ. If there is any time left in our trip, I would surely be cooking for my special guest with the beautiful view of the Mogollon Rim right outside my backyard.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been many people that have helped me, personally and professionally over the years. First, my husband, who is loving and supportive in every way. I am grateful he encourages me to follow my dreams and works hard to ensure I can put all my attention into my business. Secondly, my beautiful assistant Terri Abney is my right-hand gal. She keeps things moving behind the scenes and does so much for me to free up my time to be able to create new and wonderful things to support other business owners. Thirdly, Sunny Dawn Johnston has helped me to heal the many things that were holding me back in my life and she encourages me in so many ways in my business. With the tools she has given me, I have been able to create a life full of abundance and peace. Her mentoring has been invaluable for me, both personally and professionally. And last but perhaps the most important, I owe everything to my beautiful clients. I am grateful for the many souls that have put their faith and trust in me to help build their brand and businesses. The relationships we build are so meaningful to me, even when the job is over.
