Meet Kristie Nguyen | Optometrist & Brand Ambassador

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristie Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristie, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Showing them that life can be what we put in and our age does not hinder our growth, only our mindset. I want them to enjoy life and live each day to its fullest. Trust that God is there to guide them if they become lost.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel my positive outlook on life sets me apart from others. I love educating, connecting, and sharing about eyecare and eyewear!! I try to keep my content light, valuable and entertaining. It wasn’t easy to get to where I am today. I was burnout and tired, but then I did something crazy. I joined a direct sales company and it changed everything. I had to get comfortable being uncomfortable on social media to brand myself. I did what my leaders taught and slowly I grew each day. I’ve learned real quick that it’s ok to do things scared as long as it sparks that fire in your soul. Along your journey, there will be up’s and downs but don’t forget the reason why you started. I want the world to know that age is but a number. It does not limit your dream. Someone who’s older, wiser and more experienced will have more to offer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Orlando is such a touristy area and there’s so much to do. Disney World is a must and if they can come during Food & Wine Festival even better. We also have Universal Studios and Sea World. In terms of food, I’ve got so many but let’s focus on my favorites by category. For ice cream, we’ve got Greenery Creamy (their ube brownies are delish), Soda Fountain, Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream, and Twistee Treat. For boba, Krave Tea, MOGE Tea and Sago Tea Bar. For sushi, Ootoya Sushi Lounge (say hi to Larry) and Sodo Sushi. For Korean, BBB Tofu House and BBQ Chicken. Krung Thep has amazing Thai sandwiches, teas and desserts!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband who has always had my best interest at heart. He is supportive and loving. My kids for putting up with my spontaneous ideas. My siblings for keeping me grounded.

Kazoku Lunettes for giving me my first break in the optical industry. Dr. Lauretta Justin for seeing something in me when I didn’t see it myself.
