Hi Krystal, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My decision to start my own business was driven by my past experience in a poor leadership environment where growth was not encouraged. This experience led me to realize that if I couldn’t find the leadership I deserved within an organization, I had to become the leader I always aspired to be. Consequently, I established my own business and collaborated with like-minded individuals who shared my vision, and together we formed a team, working towards our common goal.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Markester is a creative marketing agency committed to creating a significant impact by assisting small businesses in growing tenfold more efficiently and cost-effectively through the integration of digital marketing solutions. Our extensive range of services includes branding, web design, UI/UX design, social media management, video/photography, and graphic design. We offer a “done-with-you” cost-effective model, where we coach your team to perform the same tasks. By working with us, you can avoid the hassle of hiring an entire in-house marketing team.

Building a dynamic team that fosters growth and collaboration is a challenging task, but it’s a critical aspect of any successful business. By flattening the corporate hierarchy, we’ve created an environment where everyone feels valued and is encouraged to contribute their unique skills and expertise.

Our team’s diversity is a key factor in our success, and we’re proud to have brought together a group of talented individuals who share our vision for growth and development. Starting from scratch was undoubtedly a daunting task, but with perseverance and strong leadership, we’ve overcome numerous challenges along the way. We firmly believe that effective delegation is the key to success, and we strive to empower our team members to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Southern California is renowned for its immense beauty, but what I appreciate the most about this region is the incredible diversity of food and cuisine. Los Angeles, in particular, is a food lover’s paradise, with an abundance of outstanding Asian cuisine that you can find almost anywhere.

For those who are visiting LA, I highly recommend checking out the many excellent museums in the area, such as The Broad and Lacma, both of which offer a wide variety of exhibits and installations that are sure to captivate and inspire. And if you’re a nature lover, you won’t want to miss the breathtakingly beautiful beaches that dot the coastline. In my opinion, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach are two of the best and offer a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a special shoutout to my co-founder, Kazuki Oiwake, who has been an incredible business partner and friend. Kazuki and I first met while working at a startup, where he was my supervisor. He inspired me to become a better leader by leading by example, and his strong communication skills, unwavering support, and exceptional work ethic have been invaluable to the success of Markester.

I truly believe that Kazuki is one of the most hardworking individuals I have ever met, and his contributions to Markester cannot be overstated. Without his expertise and dedication, I could not imagine running the company on my own. I’m grateful to have him as a co-founder and am excited to continue growing our business together.
