We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Valdivia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, what matters most to you?
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
In the service industry, you could alter it slightly to: “Serve others how you would like to be served.”
That will truly impact your business for the better, every time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I absolutely LOVE what I do!
I think that simple fact is what sets me apart from others. I want my clients to feel at ease in my chair and to know that I genuinely enjoy taking care of them and their hair.
I decided to become an independent stylist when I realized that I was not growing at my previous commission-based salon. While it was a tough decision, it has been the best thing I have ever done career-wise!
I had people in my life who had gone independent before me, I asked so many questions and observed their success. Seeing them succeed gave me the confidence that I could too.
Most importantly, I’m able to give my clients a better overall experience and give them one-on-one attention during their service.
Being able to give someone great hair is so much more than vanity. It’s self-esteem, a form of self-care, and a way to express one’s self. I feel so blessed to call this my career!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Gates Pass (Saguaro National Park area)
That’s pure Southern Arizona beauty right there! You can’t beat our sunsets with the saguaros as far as your eye can see.
I also love the historic downtown Tucson, it’s so unique and quaint and there are some great restaurants around there like Café à La C’Art.
Then I would take them to south Tucson because that’s where the real good, authentic tacos are!
And you can’t beat La Estrella bakery for the best pastries.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sydney Encinas! My best friend, and a huge inspiration and encouragement for me to venture out on my own!
