We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Wuller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our organization focuses on meeting a basic human need, We are ensuring our community’s most vulnerable has access to cold, safe drinking water. For what seems like a simple and basic task to so many, is a daily struggle for those experiencing homelessness.
Instead of your typical plastic bottle donations, we are providing a lifeline that keeps water safe from the elements, and cold for 24 hours. This is done through the donation of 64 oz. stainless steel bottles. We then partner with different businesses and organizations to build a network of safe fill sites. This ensures bottle recipients can continue to have water daily and stay hydrated.
Not only are we redefining the way to supply water to those in need, we’re creating a more sustainable society with cleaner streets and less plastic in landfills. Social impact is our speciality and we are very proud of what we do!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a nonprofit organization that focuses on a social issue many don’t realize is a huge problem in our society! I am proud of the original idea and the good it brings to the world. It has never been an easy journey, but I attribute our graphics and designers to much of our success. They tell our story through an appealing way that attracts donors, and showcases our mission to the community.
We have had many challenges we have had to overcome. The most crazy being UPS losing our first 500 bottles. This was a major setback and delayed our launch for months. However, we used the experience as a learning opportunity. We changed the design of our bottle and ended up creating a product that was much better suited for those experiencing homelessness. It gave us the time to reflect and grow as a team.
Starting this organization has taught me a lot of key values. I learned that patience, while very difficult at times, is extremely important in the business realm. I had to be assertive on my needs, but patient and respectful to teammates and vendors. I also learned that setting a clear mission is essential to success. We know where we started, and where we want to go. Having a vision for the future gives us meaning and purpose each day.
I want the world to know that by choosing to support a nonprofit like us, you’re helping to save lives. Many year hundreds of people experiencing homelessness die to dehydration and heat stroke. Together we can end these preventable deaths and meet a basic human need. We have a passion and genuinely love what we are doing and want to see it keep growing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Phoenix Metro area is such a cool place to visit. When friends come in I love to take them to the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort. Whether it be a spa day, or enjoying the views at Jade Bar, Sanctuary is a gorgeous place to take guests.
I also love taking guests to visit Topgolf for dinner, drinks, and fun! Then a walk through Old Town Scottsdale is a must. Stopping at Diego Pops for snacks and drinks is another guest favorite. Lastly, I love showing off Fashion Square. Besides the amazing shopping, guests have to explore the exhibits at Wonderspaces. They do an amazing job of being an interactive and entertaining art show!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have so many volunteers and donors who make our mission all possible! We are so grateful for them, because without them we would be nothing!
I am especially grateful for the support of my husband Andrew Wuller who pushed me to pursue this passion, He supported me through leaving a job I was not enjoying, and taking a huge leap into a completely different career. Since day one he has believe in the impact and good our organization brings to the community and world! He is the behind the scenes hero of ARA®!
