We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Lerner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
Someone once told me that I should do one thing everyday that scares me. It is the scary things that push you outside of your comfort zone and challenge you to be the best version you can be. I truly believe that having confidence in yourself and following your intuition is crucial in growing both personally and professionally. This year, we are opening a permanent show house in North Scottsdale and it is a huge risk! Along with the risk there are so many upsides of this opportunity. The biggest risks tend to reap the biggest rewards!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After spending a majority of my career in another industry, I did some soul searching to figure out what my true passion was. I have always been an entrepreneur at heart and even when I worked for others, I always treated my job as though it was my own business.

In order to overcome challenges, I had to be willing to take a huge leap of faith, tackle challenges one step at a time and consistently remind myself that giving up on my dreams was not an option when navigating this career move. With that, the biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to befriend my weaknesses until they became my strengths.

My background in business has helped me immensely in quickly scaling my business. I have built a multi 7-figure interior design business in a few short years with no formal design training. Everything I have learned is on the job. I thrive when I am learning and solving problems, and there is no shortage of that in what I get to do every day. It’s truly special to be able to do something every day that I love. My side passion is helping other designers who struggle with productivity and profitability.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Castle Hot Springs and Terra Farm + Manor for a little hidden getaway. Etta and The Mission would be top spots to get reservations for dinner.
I’d start each day with a rejuvenating hike. I am loving Apache Wash Trailhead these days because it’s a quick 40 minute hike, and I usually have the whole mountain to myself. I’d then head to one of the many amazing spas in the area for a treatment and spend the remainder of the day relaxing by the pool.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is to my team! My team is a huge reason why my business is where it is. I can truly say that every single team member is great at what they do and that we all continue to push ourselves to be better every single day. There is a pivotal point where a team becomes like family. We are all strong enough to be self reliant, but brave enough to ask for help. We all possess different strengths and collectively encourage each other along the way. We appreciate and nurture what makes each member thrive and are a safe place to land if ever needed. Professional success is valued equally to personal successes. This daily balance has strengthened both my business and myself for the better, and I am so grateful for this group of amazing women!
