We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Swank and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe that dedication and drive make up the foundation of success. When I created Grove and Gather I wanted to build a community who valued spending quality time with loved ones and celebrating life’s special moments in style. I didn’t just want a creative outlet, but also something that I would put my everything into. Having this dedication and drive to do the work no matter what it took is what has kept my business going. I also realized I wanted to help people live more intentionally which I practice in my business everyday. Being more intentional with posts on social media, design work, location scouting, and so much more help curate an elevated experience for my clients. Being able to recognize your clients needs/wants are the key to successfully creating a lasting experience for them to remember. Every event that I book is managed with care and attention to detail as if it were for my own friends and family. Watching clients enjoy quality time with their loved ones around an event I created whether it is a private dinner, bridal shower, or even a date night picnic is success to me. I believe staying true to my brand and having a high standard of quality sets me apart and is what will continue to propel my business forward. I am grateful to have a business that not only challenges me to be better everyday but also allows me to share my journey with all of you!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Grove and Gather is a boutique picnic and event company. We specialize in creating intimate events for all the special moments in life whether it is a birthday, a bachelorette party, or just a date night picnic. At Grove and Gather we value spending quality time with your loved ones and that is what we hope to give to you in each and every event we create. We also value aesthetics and high quality events from start to finish. This is something that really sets us apart in our settings. We strive to design every event with our client in mind while staying on brand. We are really proud of our progress starting a small business in a new location from the ground up as well as curating an elevated feel to all of our events and brand. It definitely was not easy creating Grove and Gather. Not only is the legal side of starting a business daunting but creating your website, starting social media accounts, purchasing inventory, and so so much more work is done behind the scenes. When it comes to starting your own business and curating a solid brand it is crucial to have the determination to actually do the work. I believe if you are going to take shortcuts it will really show who took the easy way out and who did the research and investment into their company. Starting Grove and Gather has really made me take a look at myself and how I want to be spending my time. It also has forced me to slow down and appreciate the time you have with those around me. Our mission is to create a stylish experience for you to be with loved ones and be more present and intentional in those moments. Because it is so much more than a picnic or a party, it is an experience to cherish and remember for a long time to come. We hope to inspire you to do the same!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am newer to Arizona only being here for a few months so I have many places I still need to explore and try out!! I am a coffee lover so some of my favorite spots to grab a latte include Bergies Coffee Roast House, Press Coffee, or Berdena’s. As for breakfast or brunch with the girls I would take them to Liberty Market, Hash Kitchen or Bongiorno Bagles for the BEST bagels in the valley. Other great restaurants include the Clever Koi in Gilbert, Postino WineCafe, Culinary Dropout, or the infamous Nobu in Scottsdale! As for where to drink I would recommend The White Rabbit Bar, Spirit House, or The Sleepy Whale located in Chandler which offers beer, wine, and board games for a more casual vibe. As for activities some of my favorite hikes I’ve experienced so far include the Lost Dutchman, and the Hieroglyphic trail (yes – you will see super cool hieroglyphics). Other fun activities include exploring the local farmers markets on the weekend some of my favorites include the Uptown market and the Gilbert Farmers market! There is also kayaking on beautiful Saguaro lake or tubing down the salt river in the summer! Of course one of the best activities in the valley is a special outdoor picnic with Grove and Gather at a location of your choice! I can’t think of a better way to catch up with friends than with a cocktail and cheeseboard in hand enjoying the Arizona weather at a beautiful outdoor picnic.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am new to Arizona so all of the wonderful people I have met here so far have completely changed my small business experience. All of the other business owners, vendors, florist, photographers, bakers, etc. have been so amazing cheering me on as I started my journey. Starting your own business in a new state from the ground up with no family or friends is very scary and I want to thank anyone who I have connected with and who has supported me and my dreams! You all are why I am here!
