We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Ingle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I got stationed here at David Monthan AFB I was blown away by how many people were actually into reptiles. The scene was amazing but I didn’t feel like the shops I’ve been were living up to today’s standards of reptile specific husbandry. It’s one of the reasons I named the business what I did. Ever evolving to strive for the best care for the animals we are so lucky to keep as pets. So I figured I’d get out for the Air Force and try out this crazy idea for a better experience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m from Wisconsin. 4 year Enlisted Air Force Forecaster.
Background in art and design
Went to Southwest Visual Arts
No business degree, haha
I love that I can education people on the animals I love as well as create living art for reptiles and amphibians to live in. I create planted self sustaining Eco Systems as well as variety of other vivariums for reptiles and amphibians as well and invertebrates.

It was not easy to open up a niche reptile shop. It’s long hours and the work never stops. Animals are always eating and pooping but there is nothing else I’d rather be doing as living than working with reptiles. Truly a dream come true.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sonoran Desert Museum Aqua Calientie
My shop of course
Reid Park Zoo
Mount Lemmon
Food I’d go for some Roccos Pizza & La Parilla Suiza

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my family for supporting me and my dreams to work with animals since the day I announced it as an idea. You can imagine a lot of people thought I was crazy to do this. I’d like to thank Kaylynn for being an amazing mother to our two boys and and all around animal whisperer extraordinaire. She is the heart of our entire business. I really don’t know what I’d do without her. Our general manager Derek. He keeps us all sane with his crazy antics and sense of humor. His decades of experience are invaluable and essential to provide the level of knowledge needed to care for and educate the public on the animals we love so much. And I’d like to thank everyone that shops at our store and have become a part of our little Ever Evolving Exotics community.
