We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexy Romano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexy, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with Phx Finds after moving to Phoenix from New York City. When I first came here I thought that nowhere could have the kind of energy and excitement that city-life in NYC does. However, when I started discovering new and cool local spots around town I genuinely thought to myself, does everyone know how cool Phoenix is? With that inspiration and desire to share these gems I was finding, my husband suggested that I start a show where I highlight local hot spots around town. I have since branched out to include businesses of all kinds, everything from bars & restaurants to car care shops and dentists offices! At Phx Finds we want you to know how many amazing local businesses we have right here in the valley.
What should our readers know about your business?
Phx Finds is an online show and media company highlighting local businesses. The episodes we produce tell the story of the “why” behind each business; what makes them different and sets them apart, why the owners started this business, and what keeps them going. We are all about local and love to highlight those people who are business owners but also our neighbors and friends.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many great spots in Phoenix, it’s hard to choose! I would have to take people to Songbird Coffee and Tea House to start the day with a delicious coffee, and then venture over to S&V Urban Italian for one of their delicious lunch specials, and end the day with wine tasting at Genuwine, dinner at Taco Guild and dessert popsicles at AZ Pops!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always have to shoutout my hubby, who was the idea-guy behind Phx Finds in the first place. The support and love I receive from him has helped me stay strong even when I wanted to give up on this dream. He is always my biggest supporter. I do also have to shoutout some of the amazing people I have met being here in the valley. Cynthia Sassi with FabulousArizona.com is a wonderful resource and has always been incredibly supportive and encouraging. Along with people like Nicole Myden with PR Concierge, Jen Pruitt with Big Dill, Jose and Britt from Finding Arizona Podcast and so many more who have encouraged me along the way. I owe them so much for their support and love!
