Meet Lindsy Posz | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsy Posz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Date I say there wasn’t one?! I was a full time stay-at-home mom. My youngest daughter started part time pre-k, at the time, and I found myself bored out of my skull piece. I’ve worked so much of my life and never really had the opportunity to choose a professional path for myself that wasn’t strictly income-driven. Somehow out of all the “what-if’s” we pulled out of our hat, my husband passively mentioned, “a tattoo artist would be such a dope job.” From that point on, what began as a hobby for myself while the kids were in school born an entire business that financially carried my family through Covid and the uncertainty that brought. It’s been such a beautiful and humbling journey. I guess it was kinda hard to break my heart when I truly had no expectations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t know that I’m more special or unique than the next artist. Art is in the eye of the beholder right? I can imagine I’m not for everyone. Art isn’t supposed to be. I enjoy doing the work many avoid — I love the nooks and crannies, the tiny detail you don’t think anyone notices (but they do), the challenge of a sharp line, the unwillingness to cut corners, the call to use both intention, emotion and creativity in what I design for a client. Any artist can create. But can you create to connect? To help heal? To listen?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Shoooooooot. That would depend on the season for something’s here in AZ, IYKYK. Rain or shine though, you’ll find me at Sleepy Whale in downtown Chandler reading my Kindle and drinking a beer. We would make rings at Gem Addict Workshop. Espresso Martinis at North Italia. Staycation at The Foundre in Phoenix. Hiking Cathedral Rock in Sedona. A reggae concert at Mesa Amphitheater. Idk man, I am a multifaceted friend. Depends on the vibe!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the time, tools and guidance of my mentor and senior artist, Michael Martinez; tattooing would have stayed a dinner convo. Michael made the investment in me for the better part of 3 years, allowing me to find my own creative style and branch out on my own.
I have to hugely accredit my family and their patience. The only reason I have the flexibility in my schedule I do now is because I missed a lot of shit and was given the grace to. I was the first to show up to work and the last to leave. I poured my heart into and completely immersed myself in my apprenticeship. 5.5 years later, the fruits of my labor are: being as booked as I want to be, saying “no”, curating a warm space of my own, clients that truly feel like family, volunteering at every single field trip and more days “off” than the corporate world ever offered me.
Mrs. Tabor. She was my junior high art teacher who just really fucking believed in me. I’m not sure where she is or what she’s doing, but I’ve never forgotten her.
