We had the good fortune of connecting with Lore Obrejea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lore, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Spain. I studied Fine Arts in Valencia and afterwords I moved to the Uk where I kept painting and started my own little business, an Etsy Shop with prints and posters of my animal illustrations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It was a slow process, but when you are growing is always little by little and it takes time and effort. I started painting for myself and things that I enjoyed, like portraits, flora and fauna. People started noticing the work that I was doing and commissions started coming my way. I started an Etsy Shop to sell prints, posters and other products with my illustrations. All of this wouldn’t have been posible if I didn’t share my paintings on Instagram. That’s where I started growing and having a large number of followers little by little. It helped with giving visibility to my small business. It wasn’t always easy, there were times when I wanted to give up and do something else. It’s not easy to be working by yourself from home, for more than 5 years now… It takes a lot of power of will to wake up and be productive everyday. But I’m thankful to be able to do what I”m doing!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’ve had to plan so many itineraries since we live here in the UK! My cousins and parents will come visit and we loved to take them everywhere! We live near a big forest, so we’ll do a long forest walk, to enjoy the nature. We’ll order Indian take away afterwords, so they can savour our favourite dishes. It’s always fun to see how they react to new food! And of course we’ll take them to London and do a BIG tour with them. Some of the places you can’t miss are: Sky Garden, for amazing views of the city and an awesome indoor garden. China Town, for some sweets and the views, as well as Soho with it’s many shops and restaurants. I also love taking them to street food markets, like the Borough Market, Brick Lane Market or Old Spitalfields Market. Also visiting the National History Museum is a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big thank you to all of the people who liked and supported my paintings when I was starting. And a bigger thank you to Roland, my husband who encourages me to keep doing what I do.
