Meet Lori Keeton | Nautique Girl Surfer & Wake For Warriors Midwest Division & Floors For You Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Keeton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lori, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I love helping veterans. In 2021 I decided to fundraise for Wake For Warriors, a nonprofit organization. I researched how they help veterans by using water therapy by teaching veterans watersports. I have volunteered 35 days for Wake For Warriors hosting and teaching veterans to surf behind my boat! This has been an incredible experience.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I decided to fundraise to raise awareness for Wake For Warriors helping veterans. On June 8th, 2021 I broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD surfing 8hrs straight! I more than tripled the current women’s record and more than doubled the current men’s record. I then increased my training and planning for my next GUINNESS WORLD RECOD. On Sept 8th & 9th, 2022 I broke my previous record surfing 14hrs 48min 45 sec. There were several challenges, how to get the boat fueled, how to eat enough calories, coordinating between GUINNESS and all the judges and drivers. I have learned a lot about my abilities and my passion for wake surfing through all of this.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a small town called Lizton, Indiana in the country. I would definitely take them surfing to Raccoon Lake in Rockville, Indiana. I love surfing so to be honest I would recommend that we surf everyday possible. This is my favorite local lake to visit. The people there are amazing! I would also recommend eating at Perillo’s Pizzeria for some small town authentic Italian food. I would also recommend McCloud’s Nature Park which is off the beaten path for hiking.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my sponsors, friends, and veterans for helping me break my GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS. N3 Boatworks has been my most involved sponsor helping me plan the logistics. They fully supported me from start to finish. I also want to thank my friends for spending countless hours driving my boat so I could train and surf during my GUINNESS WORLD RECORD. I consider it a privilege to be fundraising and a part of the Wake For Warriors family. I look forward to hosting more upcoming events for veterans. If you or anyone you know are a veteran invite them to sign up for our free camps teaching watersports at www.wakeforwarriors.org.
