We had the good fortune of connecting with Marielle Ceniceros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marielle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is necessary. We need it in order to grow and evolve as humans. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump. There’s an excitement to risk. Risk entices you, It temps you with the prospect of endless possibilities.

My career has been a collection of risks.

First there was beauty school.

I woke up one day and decided I was going. That’s it. No explanations, no Plan B‘s. No need to mention it to anyone. There was a clear path in my mind, and I wasn’t interested in outside voices or opinions.

I personally believe that sometimes were guided by a higher power to follow our rightful path.

All we have to do is listen to that inner monologue. Sometimes it’s audacious, sometimes it’s scary. A lot of the times it makes no sense.

To outside perspectives, beauty school would have makes no sense.

I was already working 40+ hours a week in physical therapy. I had carved out for myself a nice career with a steady paycheck and full benefits. I was also pregnant. I was a mom to be who should have wanted the security.

Ultimately, the risk, the higher power and the clear path led me to my business. Skinology Skin and Body Studio in Northwest Tucson. We were lucky enough to acquire the turn key business in 2018. The Risk paid off.

What should our readers know about your business?
Skinology Skin and Body Studio in Northwest Tucson is a licensed massage establishment and aesthetic salon. We specialize in facials and holistic skin care. What sets us apart is we all specialize in different things and work daily to be the best at what we do..

I specialize in facials, GuaSha and facial massage.

Lindsay, my aesthetician and my right hand specializes in body waxing and make up Artistry. Selena my other aesthetician specializes in lash artistry and facials.
Our massage therapist Toni works with athletes and specializes in deep tissue.

Every single person here is a true master in their craft.

All of us were brought together to do this work. We shine individually but collectively we are a dream team.

We are also very different people.

I think the lesson learned is that no two people are identical. Everyone has a certain way of doing things, everyone has their own style of work and you just have to accept people and appreciate them for who they are.

I would like readers to know that self-care is Important. I compare regular facials to getting an oil change for your car. It’s necessary. It’s not a luxury. We need the relaxation we need the stress relief. We need the exfoliation! A lot of the times, we need the therapy. I want readers to know that they are safe with us. We go above and beyond with all sanitation practices at all times. I also want readers to know that when they come here they are in a safe space. We are the keepers of all secrets and the best listeners. We will always try our hardest to make Skinology a wonderful experience for clients.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d say family deserves a lot of recognition and credit in my story. My mom is an amazing, fierce and determined woman who always made sure I had what I needed. Her prayers and well wishes have always followed me. It’s the same with my sister, cousin and favorite aunt. They always support any way they can.

My husband’s family is very close, tight knit and I feel lucky to be a part of it. They always support our business ventures with lots of encouragement. I can always call my sister in laws for anything I need.

My in-laws are couple goals. They set a beautiful example of marriage.

My husband is a force. He is the hardest working person I know and the most motivated individual I’ve ever met. My success is his success. He motivates me every day to be the best version of myself. I don’t think any of my success would be possible without him. We are a team.

I take a lot of inspiration from reading business books and listening to motivational podcasts. I think these are the modern day mentors. The best part is they’re available to everyone and anyone.
