We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlisse Quijada and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlisse, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned in my business is to trust yourself and be the advocate for your business. What I mean by this is, sometimes when are starting out in our own business, we rely on others and give responsibilities to other people. This might seem like a good idea, but from my experience, it is best to handle all business yourself, this way there are no questions or fingers being pointed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I believe sets my career apart from others is I am actively pursuing a health degree while working full time and working part time at our spa. I would like to pursue a career in medical aesthetics and become a nurse injector.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to Sedona to do some hiking and visit some local restaurants and breweries. I would probably also take them to some hidden gems here in Arizona that are near where I grew up, extremely beautiful scenery!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize 2 people, first, my husband for always encouraging to push forward with my dream and business and second my colleague, Danielle Clark, who is a registered nurse and works along side me in the beauty industry. We recently opened up our own spa, Youthful Glow Aesthetics in Catalina, AZ.
