Meet Matt Rosenfeld | Mobile sharpening service for hair stylists and pet groomers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Rosenfeld and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Over the course of my working career, I’ve found a common thread between the roles I’ve held and what I’m drawn to. That element has been to help others improve their situation. I find it extremely gratifying to know that I can have an impact on people that provides some tangible benefit. It can come from helping others by providing tools that can make their work life easier or providing insight on how they can become more efficient and effective. I really like feeling that I’ve had a positive impact on those around me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve held a variety of positions throughout my career, from individual contributor to team lead and department director. I’ve tried to leverage the learning I’ve gained through each of these positions to make me more well-rounded and empathetic as a person. As an entrepreneur, I try to connect with my clients to better understand what they need from me to help make the working relationship as beneficial as possible for both parties. I can summarize my approach to my current sharpening business as this: “I’m in the business of customer service, and I happen to sharpen tools for my clients”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Having grown up around water in the Pacific Northwest, I’d definitely take them to visit some of the scenic lakes we have near Phoenix and try to dispel the image that we’re living in the scrub desert. Food experiences would also be high on the itinerary. I’ve only been here for about five years, so we’re still actively exploring the area, and love having new experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My best cheerleader and critic is my wife Michelle – she’s been a great resource to help me with my growth, and development as an individual and as an entrepreneur. As for other resources, I’ve found a lot of insight from author Ken Blanchard, that helped me to navigate the waters of corporate roles and team dynamics.
