We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Defreitas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I was 16 I got a 1977 Dodge pickup truck I was trying to restore. I was also on the verge of working on cars a full time career which ultimately fell through as I could not find a job and past the ASE test. My dream car is a 1970 Hemi Cuda and me being an avid gamer and lover of cars came up with the name Gamer With A Hemi.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been streaming and content creating for over 10 years. However never really took it seriously until the Pandemic came about when I was on the verge of being laid off and decided to buckle down and start grinding on these platforms to show everyone that you to can have a trade and still be an great gamer. I work hard, am very passionate about my work, and love to try new things. When starting streaming and content creating I really did not have a goal and purpose of why I was doing it. However when I started focus on what I really loved about my brand I found the performance of my content and streams improved. Content creation and streaming is not easy at all several curve balls will be thrown at you. But if you stick with it, like I did and do something you really enjoy, then you you start to fire on all cylinders.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First would be the VA Beach ocean front and grab some great food drinks. Walk the boardwalk and get a picture of the Neptune statue. Cruise around a few local car meets and if there is a race going down at the drag strip in Dinwiddie we would go there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a few people One is everyone in the Modern Day Nerd’s community The Nerd Crew. They always pointed me in the right direction when it came to streaming and content creation. My mom and dad who also showed me support through my journey as a content creator and streamer and continued to do so..
