We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Hinojos-Dryer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My father is a business owner himself and he inspired me to start my business. My thought process behind starting my own business was to have control over my professional life and be my own boss. I love having the freedom to make decisions and shape the direction of my business. As a business owner, I wanted to contribute to the growth of the local economy. I prioritize sourcing products and services from local suppliers and vendors. This supports local businesses and helps to keep money circulating within the community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our mattresses are made locally in Phoenix, Arizona. We take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our products by emphasizing attention to detail. We offer a personalized service by listening to our customer’s specific needs and preferences. We strive in making our products readily available, even if our customers have custom requests.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am born and raised in Phoenix and I love my city. I think it’s grown so much in the last couple of years and it’s only getting better. I have so many favorite spots in Arizona to visit.
This would be my week-long itinerary for a friend.
Monday – have dinner at Postino and enjoy their “Board & Bottle” special.
Tuesday – Enjoy tacos and margaritas at Joyride for their “Taco Tuesday “ special.
Wednesday – Drive up north to Sedona and take the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic drive to Flagstaff. You’ll enjoy one of the best views!
Thursday – Hike the South Mountains you get the best 360-degree views of the city.
Friday – Enjoy the local bar and restaurants in downtown Phoenix.
Saturday – Check out the greater Phoenix farmers markets where you can shop for farm-fresh goods any time of year.
Sunday – Enjoy the best brunch spots at Old Town Scottsdale.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I owe my success to God. He’s put many important people in my life that have impacted my career tremendously. My family has been my emotional support and encouragement, they play a key role in my success. Lastly, I would like to thank my amazing employees, together we’ve made an outstanding team. They have fostered a positive work culture and without their work, there would not be a successful business.
