We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Davies, FNP-BC, CANS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I never wanted to be a business owner. In fact, had you told me while I was in school that I would one day own my own business I don’t think I would have believed you. However after working for multiple businesses with subpar standards I felt if I wanted to keep my license, get paid, and do right by my clients, I needed to open my own business. In 2015 I launched Desert Holistic Health (since rebranded as DHH Med Spa), focusing on weight loss treatments, hormone replacement and aesthetic services.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Med Spas are now a dime a dozen for sure now-there are actually over a 100 other people doing what I do in a 2 mile radius. I actually picked one of the most competitive zipcodes in aesthetics-85258, Scottsdale Ranch. So yes standing out is more important than ever. But back when I started in Aesthetics in 2013 it wasn’t quite as competitive. Knowledge was not as easy to attain either. I began with many high quality trainings. I trained in Las Vegas, I trained with a top dermatologist and then with other top trainers in Aesthetics as well as naturopaths in weight loss and hormone replacement. I spent every evening researching best practices. I did all of this without ever touching a patient. I had watched over and over again, so that when it was my turn I was incredibly confident that I could do it right- and I did. I am both left and right brained. Growing up I excelled at science, as well as art. Aesthetics is the marriage of these two fields, and the perfect fit for me. I am a perfectionist, and hold not only myself to this standard but also my staff. I have created many amazing relationships over the years because my clients know I will only do what is in their best interest and am not trying to upsell them. So, the training, the research, the customer service has all led to my success and my client’s holding trust in my business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dominick’s is my go-to restaurant in Scottsdale for sure, everything on the menu as well as the customer service is always on point. I love staycations at the Biltmore, Sanctuary or the Phoenician. For shopping, you can never go wrong at Fashion square! I love local dog events, as helping local rescues is a big part of my mission. I am constantly posting dogs for adoption and love pop up events like the ones at Light and Bark candles in old town. When its not 118 degrees like right now in July I love to hike or walk the trails at Papago Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Carmen Ohling, she has been my life coach for the last 6 months and has really taught me so much. Carmen is such a positive light for so many women, leading by example to show up as your highest self.
