We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Granger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think the most important thing that I’ve done as a parent, that will have a lasting impact on my children, is the gift of being present. Let me first discuss my career and then I will discuss how this ties into being present for my children. I started my career of being a Travel Planner for two reasons. The first reason being to help spread my love for travel and to ensure others get to experience life beyond where they currently live. The second reason is that not only do I get to have a career that I am passionate about and enjoy but I also get to make my own hours such that I can be present to my children on a daily basis. I am here every morning to feed them breakfast, I’m available for every soccer game and gymnastics practice, etc. I think my children will grow up knowing how much I love and care for them because I was always here when they needed me most.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say that I am most proud of my dedication to my clients. Being a Travel Planner and in sales, word of mouth is everything. I pride myself on helping my clients get the most out of their vacations by tailoring each trip to be uniquely theirs. I pay attention to the small details of “why are my clients going on this vacation”, “what are they hoping to get out of this trip”, “where can I add value”, etc. There have been a lot of challenges especially over the last year due to Covid-19. Now more than ever, travelers need Travel Planners because there are so many details going into planning a memorable vacation. I have spent this past year, which has not been as busy due to Covid, working on furthering my education in the industry so that when clients are ready to travel, I’m ready to support them. I feel that there is always something that we can learn to better ourselves in our careers and I will continue to educate myself on different locations, protocols and experiences. When the world is ready to travel again, I’ll be here to help!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend were to visit me here in AZ, I would take them immediately to Sedona. Sedona has so much to offer from delicious food, to incredible hiking and an incredibly calming atmosphere. After going on one of my favorite hikes at Devil’s Bridge, I would suggest driving a little further to right outside of Flagstaff to go to the Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. This course has ropes, zip lines, bridges, you name it and we would have an exhilarating time climbing and catching up. Lastly, we would go out to one of the local breweries in Flagstaff for a delicious dinner and drinks. There is so much to do in Arizona and I would love to show my best friend around!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without the support of my husband. My husband has never doubted my decision to become a travel planner and fully supports me whenever needed. Being a travel planner, I don’t work 9-5. I make my own hours but often times need to speak with clients “after hours” and on weekends. He is there to help me run our family and encourage me along the way.
