We had the good fortune of connecting with Melody Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melody, let’s jump right in. What are you most passionate about? Why?
I would say I’m the most passionate about seeing my clients succeed. To me, this is found on set working with “new face” models/ talent and seeing them nail those winning shots. You can see the joy translate through their final images which in return help them book new jobs. It’s a win-win situation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Creative Director and Wardrobe stylist for budding brands and talent. I have a background and degree in graphic design and now run my own company providing fashion imagery and styling tips for my clients. I love to do storytelling through my fashion and editorial imagery and I believe this is what sets my work apart from others. There’s always a classy and modern twist to it too. I’m often inspired by Old Hollywood Icons such as Marylin Monroe and Bridget Bardot as well as modern icons and french style. I love a lot of texture, whimsicality, and depth to my imagery. Sometimes that comes from the models’ facial expression and other times it comes from the overall composition or a piece of clothing. It’s fascinating what you can do with a single image and then see how far you can push the boundaries of its overall meaning. This has all stemmed from over ten years working in the graphic design, fashion and entertainment industries in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. I’ve spent time working in Public Relations, Advertising, Branding, Magazines and for clothing companies. All of this has led me to creating my own brand utilizing skills from each industry I’ve worked in. It’s been a long and challenging road, but well worth it. There are so many people in the world that want to keep others down, and times can be detrimental. But not allowing that to stop me has given my brand the new life it needed and a fire under me to make changes in these industries and better those I come across. I can’t wait to see what the next chapters in life hold for me and Design De Amore.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend were in town for a week, I definitely have some favorite places I would take them to! To start, I would have to introduce them to Press Coffee – my FAVE. If it’s the morning, I’ll grab a hot vanilla latte (extra vanilla) with oat milk and some avocado toast with bacon and eggs. In the afternoon, it’s an iced dirty vanilla chai latte. A must try if you’re a chai fan. We’d probably be at the Scottsdale Quarter location where we could walk around and enjoy the outside mall and visit stores like Free People, Sephora and Express. They all offer great staple wardrobe pieces. We’d also stop into my favorite home decor store (and old workplace) West Elm. Even if I’m not shopping for anything in particular, just being in here and seeing all the home goodies makes my heart happy. It makes my mind race with possibilities of what we could do with my own future home. For dinner, we’d head to another old stomping ground of mine for dinner, Grassroots Kitchen and Tap. They have the BEST salmon dinner, salads and vegetables you can ask for. It’s southern style cooking with a modern twist and oh-so-YUMMY. My favorites are the salmon + salad with the club house salad, the vegetable platter, and of course brownie dessert all accompanied by a glass of wine poured on tap. Other destinations would include my favorite areas in the city: Arcadia and Uptown Phoenix. I love the vibes here because they remind me of the ones in my old home in West Hollywood, California. It’s a perfect mix of home-town feel with walkability and plenty of local small businesses near by to visit. I always feel safe, welcome and normal here with it’s mix of creatives and young professionals. The Henry is my favorite place in Arcadia to work and meet clients for coffee or lunch. The atmosphere is precious and makes you feel welcome and at home. The staff too, especially at the coffee bar! I always get an iced Wildflower coffee with a pump of white chocolate syrup and oat milk – it’s to die for! For lunch I like the Beverly Hills club with Truffle Fries or the Kale and Spinach Truffle Dip. Yum. From there, we’d visit all of my favorite local boutiques for shopping. Since I moved back to Phoenix about 5 years ago, two boutiques have really stood out and set the stage for many others here. They are Vida Moulin in Uptown Phoenix and T. Madison Shop, located inside Found by Domestic Bliss by Ahwatukee. Vida is for the boho babes who loves investing in quality wardrobe that will last for years. I always love their shoe options too! T. Madison is a go-to for everyday modern wardrobe that is super comfortable and in style for years to come. A new favorite for both home goods and wardrobe would be the Lifestyled Co, who have shops in both Gilbert and Arcadia. As a final adventure, we’d travel to Sedona for the day to experience all it’s wonders and to enjoy some time outdoors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I can contribute part of my success to one organization, I would owe it to the Ford/ Robert Black Agency in Phoenix. They helped me bridge the gap between working in a career based in graphic design (often spent alone behind a computer) or one created on set each day with a team. I chose the latter and thus decided to venture out on my own, where I could create on set with the people value most in my professional career. Working with Fordrba gave me a newfound confidence and sense of direction in my life. I feel I am meant to help these “kiddos” (as I refer to the new faces) succeed in any way I can. I know now that I am right where I was always meant to be, and with a purpose I wouldn’t have figured that out without them.
