We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Hopper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love creating great drinks for people, I thought what better way to do it then giving them a personal experience on some of the best days of their lives. Whether that be their wedding day, a significant birthday, or just a small get together with their really close friends.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I graduated High School and had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I joined the Navy for four years until I got out and started bartending where I quickly fell in love with it. Knowing nothing about cocktails or the bar scene it gave me something to deep dive into and explore. The first time I bartended a wedding I had so much fun and thought that starting my own bar business would be exciting. I wasn’t wrong, it has definitely been a challenge with being a full time college student, working full time, and having this side hustle that requires a lot of attention. I am proud of myself for starting it, even if it never takes off and makes me a millionaire it has been a fun journey learning how to work this small operation. What I want the world to know about my brand is that Beer Thirty Mobile Bar works for you, I try and create the best experience for you and your guests no matter what the event is. It never gets old the look on people’s faces when I pull up and they realize that the bar just arrived.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I currently am living in Flagstaff Arizona, this city has so much to offer and is a lot of fun for anyone that visits. If I had a friend staying with me for a week I would absolutely take them either hiking or mountain biking on the hundreds of trails that litter the town. There is no shortage of local restaurants in Flagstaff, you could probably eat out for weeks and never visit them all. If we are getting Mexican food then there is no where better then El Tapatio, if I am having to iron my shirt to go out then Shift Kitchen is the go-to spot. Just like food there is no shortage of bars in the town, but my heart is loyal to Rendezvous Cocktail Lounge and that’s not just because thats where I work full time. But the atmosphere, drinks, and people there are unmatched in the town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I started my mobile bar with the inspiration and help from Ernie who runs a mobile bar out of Los Angeles called Liquid Courage. I worked a few events with him and saw how fun it was to bring a bar to people with custom drinks that fit their event. All throughout the building process I was able to call and ask him questions, he was never hesitant to answer and share his experiences with me. So, thank you Ernie for all your help, and if you are in the LA area and are throwing a party, please look up Liquid Courage.
