We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Spangenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I don’t feel you can advance in your career or personal life without taking risks. A few memorable risks we took at State Forty Eight, were transitioning from part time to full time roles and becoming corporate sponsors with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both risks played a major part in our growth. I also feel strongly the more you work at something the more success you will achieve.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Before going full time with State Forty Eight, I spent 15 years in the hotel industry. My biggest takeaways from the hospitality industry are treating your customers and team like they are your own family. I feel strongly that those values along with the goal of making a difference in our community helps separate State Forty Eight from the competition. I want the world to know that State Forty Eight wants to be known for more than just selling products by their positive actions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by showing a friend in town visiting my hometown and workplace in Chandler. Then we would spend a day shopping, eating and hanging out in Scottsdale/Arcadia area. Last, I would certainly plan a trip up north to Sedona or Flagstaff so they experience as much diversity as possible in Arizona.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are nothing without our incredible team. It’s impossible to create and sustain a company on your own.
