We had the good fortune of connecting with Millicent Russo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Millicent, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created Integrated Aesthetics Institute in response to the need for quality, product neutral, post graduate education in the medical aesthetics industry. Skin care professionals have limited resources for quality continuing education. Skin care technology is advancing at such a fast rate, education needs to keep up! All my courses are product neutral (meaning I do not sell or rep a brand) and backed by contemporary scientific data. My goal is to elevate the medical aesthetics industry by providing a world class educational experience. I created the Integrated Aesthetics Association and Scholarship Fund as a means to create community, networking and educational opportunities for aesthetics professionals.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that no matter what you do, do it to serve others. The relationships you foster are more important than what you are selling. When your heart is in the right place and you have passion for what you do, the money will come as a natural bi-product.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The valley is such a great place to visit! We’d have to see a show at the Van Buren and get a bite at Welcome Diner!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was inspired by Isabel Calleros of the National Aesthetics Institute. She modeled passion and how to master my craft. She planted a seed that grew into my love of teaching. I would not do what I do if she has not blessed me with her talents.
