We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Missy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a choice, a decision. It makes a bold statement that you have decided to move forward, no matter the outcome. The difference between those who take risks, and those who don’t – is fear. Fear of not making the right decision, fear of failure. I do not see failure as an option. Whether I am successful or not, the lessons learned are invaluable. Success can help set higher goals and bigger aspirations. ‘Failing’ is just life coaching you in the direction needed to be successful moving forward. I took a risk opening up Missy’s Mysteries, LLC at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, when most people thought we were crazy. I didn’t mind, we did it anyway. Risk requires patience, determination and an understanding that I truly will be OK, no matter what happens.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was in corporate administration for over 30 years of my life, mainly in Fortune 500 companies. My role of assistant or executive assistant, was to help the top leaders show up professionally organized – meaning logistically manage calendars, budgets, presentations, meetings, etc. I learned how to treat other co-workers professionally, learned to adapt to significant skill changes, pivot and adjust at a moment’s notice, and build confidence and trust in myself and others. All very valuable skills to have when chosing to work for yourself. I was making others richer and successful, but what was I doing for myself? I consistently managed to keep my silent dreams on hold. I told myself stories that after ‘this’ or ‘that’ I would consider doing what I loved, or ‘then’ I will make more money. I didn’t value myself enough to take a risk and go out on my own. I finally had that specific opportunity arise in my life to create a business doing what I love, and could really enjoy being around like-minded people. The regret of NOT taking the risk, outweighed the risk itself. I took the leap of opening up Missy’s Mysteries, LLC and it has been the best professional decision of my life. Why did I not do this sooner?!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Phoenix has some wonderful bars and restaurants. The cityscape looks small and unassuming to other large city centers, but Phoenix has much to offer. The restaurants downtown before heading to a concert or baseball game at Chase Field are modern, fun and easily walkable. Of course I would show them some crystal & metaphysical stores in the area, (as that is who I am and what everyone knows about me). There are some great crystal stores in the metro Phoenix area, Mesa, Tempe & of course my own in Scottsdale. We love our Mexican food out here – Ajo Al’s or Mi Patio are some local favorites. There are some great comedy shows, night life and new monthly events hapening all over the city – all the time. Hiking Camelback Mountain and exploring the desert landscape is a must as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Shoutout goes directly to my husband, Rich Cipriano. He is my biggest supporter and believes in our success. He is my number one fan and encourages and challenges me to do better and be better. He particpates in all areas if my life and shows up every single day with dedication, strength and enthusiasm to live our best lives.
