We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin McNamara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, how does your business help the community or world?
Purple Lotus Productions offers a large variety of products, services, workshops and events to help people in the open-minded community on their Mind – Body – Spirit journey. Our Affirmation products provide a way for people to put attention on the things they wish to change in their lives. It helps them to explore their true feelings and desires and empowers them to take action even while asking for help from their own higher power. Our services offer guidance and insight through readings and spiritual counseling or past life exploration as well as Reiki energy healing in person or distance healing. The counseling and healing help people by effecting change emotionally, physically and spiritually. Classes and workshops share information in an easily understood way to those that are exploring alternative to mainstream thinking and behaviors. In addition to the products and services offered by Purple Lotus Products are the Embracing Your Journey Expos produced by PLP throughout the years. These expos offer a variety of vendors with many talents, services and products for people to discover while also encouraging learning and exploring with up to 8 free lectures to explore during the events. The lectures, presented by speakers chosen from among the vendors, allow people to learn more in depth information about different specialties or areas of study in an alternative, holistic or spiritual area. So in addition to helping people discover things they didn’t know existed the community of health advocates, healers, energy workers, environmentalists, spiritual leaders, lightworkers and more are offered a reliable means of connecting with others in the community to share their gifts and earn their livelihood.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets us apart is our passion. We are passionate about providing a trusted resource on this journey of Mind-Body-Spirit growth and discovery, Whether you are a long term traveler or just looking to see what is out there to be discovered we are here to help. Our Embracing Your Journey Expos are designed to educate and enlighten, to help people find world renowned, skilled practitioners, new and innovative services as well as unique and original products. These family friendly events are open to everyone so children can be included and are also encouraged to think, discover and explore. We are a family run, multi-generational business. Our goal is to have a lasting impact on the community, to lift people up and empower them to be free thinking explorers. We were having monthly Meet & Greets, pre-Covid, as a casual way for lightworkers and Woo-Woo folk to meet each other and socialize informally. What are we most proud of or excited about? We get excited hearing success stories from people that have used our products to change or improve their life or how a reading helped them navigate a difficult situation. We are proud of our ability to keep innovating, to keep creating something new & different. Our product and service offerings have grown and expanded over the years. What began with Affirmation kits has grown to include fast acting sprays, hand-crafted jewelry for subtle long term change, bath fizzies to immerse yourself in, and the newest, Affirmation feathers. The Expos we produce continue to change and transform year after year as we strive to bring new information adjust to support the changing needs of the community. It is so rewarding to see our the growth in our vendors and regular attendees over time. How did you get where you are today business wise? Was it easy? How did you overcome challenges? We got where we are today with hard work, dedication, trial & error. We have always asked for feedback from our expo guests and vendors using surveys, paper and online. We try new things and keep what works, and shift things that don’t. It’s not always easy maintaining work life balance. Time management has always been a big challenge while juggling a busy family life and a growing business, Recently the environment of uncertainty and change generated by Covid 19 considerations and the need to pivot as a result has been the biggest challenge. We are finding ways to be in compliance with Covid safety standards by segmenting large spaces into smaller Mini-Marketplaces containing less than 50 people. The hotel is using state of the art sanitation equipment and providing sanitation stations in each area. Face coverings are required for all staff, vendors and guests per mandate of the County, City and venue. People are really feeling the need for in-person connection with others now and we are working to provide that in the safest possible manner. The biggest lesson we have learned along the way is that every obstacle, every challenge is really an opportunity to explore and try something new. What do you want the world to know about Purple Lotus Productions and the Embracing Your Journey Expos? We all have the power to make change happen. We all have to come together and lift each other up. Our goal is to encourage and empower you to make your changes as you travel your path. We are here to remind you to be the change you want to see in the world, to help others whenever you can and to keep on letting your light shine!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is an interesting question in light of Covid changes. Before Covid I would be sure to take them to the revolving sushi bar near us, Teharu, at Power Rd. & Superstition Blvd. even if they weren’t a sushi fan. They are not allowing dine in nowadays so that is not the same. We are still able to go to the Brazilian steakhouse Rodizio Grill in Dana Park at Val Vista & Baseline. This is Carnivore heaven with server after server delivering slices of roasted meats directly to your table. A day spent at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum just outside of Globe is refreshing and relaxing and beautiful time in the great outdoors. You can’t go to Arizona with out traveling to Sedona. I love checking out the vortexes, especially Cathedral Rock from Back O’ Beyond Road and from the Oak Creek side through Crescent Moon Ranch National Park. The Airport Mesa vortex is probably the easiest to walk to and so lovely. The Boyce Canyon vortex is a very different energy and worth the walk. At least a little shopping is required when in Sedona and there are some cool shops uptown but my favorite must go to is Crystal Magic on 89A heading to Cottonwood. And don’t miss Mystical Bazaar just a little further down 89A. They have readers and rocks and exquisite jewelry and every metaphysical accouterment you can think of. If you want to keep heading north to visit Flagstaff it’s hard to decide which scenic route is better, 89A directly to Flag or Schnebly Hill Rd, which turns into a gravel fire road of switchbacks climbing the cliff face until it dumps you on the 17 just South of Munds Park. Flagstaff has some lovely places to visit, the Lowell Observatory and the NAU campus. You can keep heading north to Sunset Crater and see the Grand Canyon or go all the way to Page. Or you can go East of Flag to Meteor Crater and farther still to the Petrified Forest or West to Williams. On the way home one of my favorite drives is Lake Mary Road from Flagstaff to Route 87 just North of Payson. So beautiful but watch out for snow in the winter. Much nicer than the crazy ride down the mountain on the 17.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to my business partner and first daughter Robin Selby. She is an inspiration, motivator and mover of mountains. Years ago I served the Spiritual Community mainly by doing readings and Reiki for people, frequently at events . Everything changed after Robin began helping me at events. She managed me so that I was able to serve more people and make more money. She brought some of her artwork and it sold better than she expected. Soon she developed new ideas and products to serve people in new ways and I was amazed. Before long people were returning for more of her products as much as to have another reading from me and our partnership flourished. Any parent will tell you that they wish for their children to have more than they did. Well I am so pleased and proud to see all that Robin accomplishes. She has intuition just like her mother but she is channeling Spirit in a completely different way. She has taken it to a new level. The Affirmations that she creates empower people to take charge of the changes they want to make in their life. She puts them in the driver’s seat. She gives them tools so they can explore inside themselves and expand outward to make shifts in their own lives. She gives them different versions of the Affirmations so they can choose the methods that are more comfortable for them to work with at the time. Robin offers encouragement and listens joyfully when they tell her of the progress they have made toward their goals. They are responsible but she helped them get started. She empowered them with her gifts. When the realization came that we could help many more people by producing events rather than just attending them she ran with it. The ideas just kept coming and they still do. Each new innovation offered at the Embracing Your Journey Expo is the result of Robin’s creativity and the implementation of it starts with her practical management skills and her hard work and dedication. Plus, she is way more tech savvy and social media savvy than I will ever be LOL..
