We had the good fortune of connecting with Mollie Larsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mollie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Each of my businesses came from the idea of me trying to solve the problems I had where I couldn’t find solutions elsewhere. For example, From Plants Beauty (fromplantsbeauty.com), came from an idea when I was pregnant and trying to find safe skincare products to use during that time. I couldn’t find 100% organic, plant-derived skincare products to use, so I created one myself. I knew other moms-to-be out there would have the same concerns, and if I could share my creations with them that could help them a lot during their pregnancy. For my brand new business “Mollie et Moi” Style subscription box, mollieetmoi.com, the idea came from spending less money on fashion and online shopping while not sacrificing your style. So, I created a box with five to seven chic and timeless style items offered at a lower price than shopping the pieces individually. All items included in the package are meant to last for all seasons, you can wear them today or five years later. It also releases each season, not every month so the customer can save money and ensure that all the items will be worth their spend. I still work as a content creator for my blog, allaboutgoodvibes.com, where I share lifestyle content focusing on good vibes living as I feel that people nowadays seem to be stressed, including myself. If I could share some of my experiences, how I deal with certain situations and inspire others to live a happier life, I think that will be wonderful. So, the idea for my businesses was from problems that needed solutions.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is quite unique as I am both a content creator as well as a business owner. I run a lifestyle blog, natural skincare brand, and a style subscription box. I also have a few small side businesses on teaching and designing. I do a lot on top of being a full-time mother, but I don’t mind doing them as I enjoy what I do. What sets me apart from others is that I blend my life and Thai heritage into my businesses. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today, but I can say that if you enjoy what you are doing and don’t take things personally and too seriously, you will be successful in life. I always remind myself that life is too short to spend worrying and complaining. Have a plan in place and never give up.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is fun! So, if I have to plan a week-long trip for my friends who never visited Arizona, I would start with doing something unique that only Tucson has to offer like visiting the San Xavier Mission in the morning. Then have brunch downtown before walking through Congress Street. In the afternoon, we would head to the Arizona-Sanora Desert Museum to see how beautiful our Sanora wildlife is. We would end the day Down Town for dinner, and catch a vintage film at The Loft Cinema. Day two would be a day trip up to Sedona where we would stop in Phoenix for lunch. Then continue driving up to Sedona and go on a hike through the many mesmerizing trails of their famous Red Rock Mountains. Dinner will be downtown where afterwards we would all get our palm readings by fortunetellers. On day three, we would drive up from Sedona to the Grand Canyon, one of the seven world wonders. We would book a hot air balloon ride over the canyon where we can get some fantastic pictures. After getting our fill of the beautiful sights, we would head back down and stay the night in Phoenix. Day four would include a vegan breakfast at Nami and the day walking around Old Town Scottsdale. We would grab a late lunch before heading back down to Tucson. Day five is a relaxing day where we spend the entire morning at the Spa and have an afternoon picnic at Sabino Canyon after a hike. Day six would be a day trip down to Tubac. Spending the day walking through the main town boardwalk and seeing all the creative artworks. We would have lunch before heading to the Tucson outlet mails off I-10. Day seven, ending the trip with a refreshing drive to Mt. Lemon. Having lunch in Summer Haven and hiking through the local trails. Farewell dinner at Pinnacle Peak before watching one of their famous western reenactments.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my mother, who raised me to be a brave and kind woman. Without her, I won’t be a person who I am today. The second person I want to say thank you to is my husband, who is always supportive of anything I do and any decisions I made. He empowers me to build my own business and pursue my dreams. I also want to thank my daughters, who are the loves and inspirations behind everything I do. My parents-in-law that are always there to support my family and me when we struggle. To all of my followers who are taking time to reach out and become good friends after several years of communicating on social media. All my old friends and new friends for all the kind words they’ve given me. To all the aspiring artists, bloggers, content creators, entrepreneurs who produce such outstanding works to keep me inspired and make me keep doing what I love doing every day. Lastly, I want to thank Voyage Phoenix for contacting me and giving me space to introduce myself and share my work and passion with the community. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
