We had the good fortune of connecting with Ms. Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ms. Flores, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking played a major role in opening up my nail school. I had just signed the lease right before COVID hit. Everyone told me, “don’t do it, all the schools are being shut down”. Amidst all the confusion and fear, the one thing that helped me take that leap of faith was my Grandma. Right before her passing, she said, “If you ever have a dream, move forward no matter what. Life is change, life is obstacles.” I was afraid, and I had my doubts, but despite everyone’s advice not to take that chance, I took her advice and moved forward with my dream. My school has just passed its one year mark. I have become one of the most successful nail schools here in Arizona. So its true, there can be success regardless of any circumstances. It all starts with taking a risk, or as I call it, a leap of faith.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Having a passion and appreciation for Art, I decided to open the first Nails Only Nail Art School here in Mesa, Az. We are an accredited school teaching the requirements of nail technology with emphasis on advanced nail art. Risk taking, accepting learning through failure, and keeping positive thoughts has helped my success. It has not been easy, but its important to keep moving forward no matter what. I want others who want to take a risk to know that your dreams and happiness are possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Canyon Lake would be the place to go. Great view and great food. The perfect place to relax and enjoy what Arizona has to offer. There are endless places to visit and enjoy here. Canyon Lake is only one of them, plus the sunsets are amazing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and my present and past students
