Meet Neha Bhagirath | Finance Implementation Consultant and Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Neha Bhagirath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Neha, why did you pursue a creative career?
As someone who has been in the corporate world from 8 years now I was craving an outlet to express who I am creatively. I have always loved traveling and trying something new. The camera roll was constantly filling up with many photos and videos of my many adventures. One day back in May of 2022 I decided why not start sharing where I have gone and what I have loved. Initially I struggled with the idea of not having as much privacy if deciding to take on this public platform but I have found this was one of the best decisions as I have met so many amazing people through beginning my NJRecommends channel and it was so worth it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I go by NJRecommends on Instagram. As a content creator I believe what gets me the most excited is seeing a restaurant owner’s eyes light up as you compliment their menu and food choices. I feel that connecting with small businesses throughout the area is what truly excites me as I have been on this journey since starting this page. Initially when I first began I never thought my page would grow to where it is. Not only have I been able to network with so many other creators but I have also had the opportunity to meet with multiple business owners and get a glimpse of their day to day lives. What I would want the world to know about my story is that it is never too late to start. Pick something that you love and you feel can connect with others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ah yes I love this question! Ok, so a weekend in Jersey City would start as the following. We would first start at Cafe Peanut to grab a quick coffee and snack prior to heading to Liberty State Park. Liberty State has wonderful views of the NYC skyline and is the perfect place to start your morning either with a brisk walk or run as you admire the nature oasis within Jersey City. From there we would then head to Buddy’s in JC or Maman in JC near Exchange place for some delicious brunch. Post brunch we can walk around the Exchange Place waterfront. After the nice post brunch walk we could take a drive over to the Downtown Jersey City area. There are a ton of cute shops and even if not buying anything, the window shopping is fun in itself. For dinner, we have to get some spicy margs and yummy bites at Orale. And it would not be the perfect day without dessert at Torico. This would be the perfect day in Jersey City. Granted, we could adjust it based on our appetites however this is a great way to get a view of a couple of the neighborhoods in JC. JC has wonderful neighborhood pockets all throughout. I would spend the next day venturing through JC heights which leads you to Weehawken. Driving through the heights is awesome as the neighborhood changes as you drive through whether you are on Central Ave. vs. Palisades Ave. You cannot forget to take a gander through the various neighborhood parks. Riverside Park in the JC Heights is a great place to visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my partner Abhishek. When I first thought about starting this page he gave me the extra push. He said “It is not about the likes or popularity of the channel but rather an outlet to express yourself” When in the corporate world we believe we should all have a passion project or hobby to offset against our normal routine.
