We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaac Castellanos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaac, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I believe success in most cases is thought of as too narrow minded of a topic. Many people think success is a black-and-white discussion, that you are either successful or you are not. I on the other hand, believe it to be an ever-changing pursuit. Success is some thing we are always chasing and that we can always be accomplishing. Whether that means you were successful just in the tasks for the day or had more sales this year than the last, it is all success. I don’t think we should take it as something that can only be thought of on the large scale exclusively. We should think on the large scale as well of course and that is our vision, that is what drives us towards that bright future we see for ourselves in the distance. Success to me is accomplished whenever we are driven enough to accomplish anything we have set out to do. For myself being an artist, maybe that means finishing a painting, launching a website, or making a sale. One thing is for sure, those are all successes. I would define success as something achieved every time we make the choice to do better and continue to work towards our goals than before.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artwork is high impact, high contrast, and dynamic. I use powerful color and lots of contrast in all my work and use a mix of spray painting techniques along with fine oil painting that I have not seen very commonly in other artists work. I think what sets me apart is my use of graffiti influence in a fine art style. Through these techniques I feel I am able to achieve effects and eye catching pops of color that you can’t find without the use of my style. Something I am most excited about that will be happening July of 2021 is the launch of my website, which I have been working on for over a year and am very excited to finally have up and running. Getting where I am today was definitely a balance. I am at the moment only 17 and started my art career at 15. Because of this, I had to balance being a full time student as well as a full time artist. It isn’t always easy but all the long nights of work and dedication is one thousand percent worth it. I am really beginning to gain more traction quickly now and cannot wait to continue my journey and see where I can go with my artwork. One of the most important lessons I could tell anyone is to just know, no matter what you want to achieve it is always possible with passion and dedication. Talent is an overrated idea, you can have talent and maybe even have natural talent that makes things come more easily to you. However, All people need to know is that as long as you are willing to try and keep trying you will find success. The most important part of my brand and artwork to me and to convey to my audience is to show my viewers the massive amounts of power and potential I fully believe with my whole self that every person has. No matter how big or how small you think that power is, it is there. I would love nothing more than to inspire those who see or purchase my work to chase there dreams and achieve everything they want with passion and determination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Arizona we may not have as many interesting places as other cities but some of my favorite activities are going to fairs and amusement parks, hiking some nearby mountains and bike rides with friends are always great. I would love to bring them to some of my favorites spots in Scottsdale like paradise valley burger company or the Duece in Phoenix. I am also a huge fan of the local food truck festival the town of queen creek hosts every Friday and think it is a great place to find innovative and out there foods. There are also some great areas of spray paint murals to check out in downtown Phoenix that I would love to view with friends

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nichole Kluth was one of the first teachers I had that made me start taking art more seriously and was starting in my art career. Would not be where I am without her guidance and investments she put into me and my work.
