We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole DAgostino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business Events by Nicole Monea LLC, was to create a legacy for my 4 children. I have a passion for event planning and I wanted to leave something that if they wanted to pursue event planning themselves or hire individual’s to oversee Events by Nicole Monea LLC they could do so . My thought process was very simple. I have always been the “party planner ” for family and friends . I decided to capitalize on it and turn what I love to do, which is taking my clients special milestones and turning them into a dream event with lasting memories.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a small event planning business Events by Nicole Monea LLC. I started my event planning business back in 2007 under another name and re-vamped it in 2016 to re launch under my new name . I think what set’s me apart from other small event planning business is my drive and creativity to deliver for my clients. take their ideas for their dream event and I deliver beyond their expectations, from planning, creating, vendor management to execution of the event . I’m proud that I didn’t throw in the towel , I didn’t get discouraged when I wasn’t bringing clients at the beginning . I kept praying for Business and asking GOD to direct my path and it was like a light switch went off towards the end of 2016 and events started rolling in from custom designing, to events there was and is still no lack . I have been featured in magazines , I just completed writing as a co-author for a amazing book called Re-Design Your 9 to 5 where I got to share my journey , successes and obstacles of starting my own business, along with 49 other Amazing Co-Authors through BMcTALKS Press. I got to where I am today by just simply praying for myself and my business, pushing myself, taking educational courses to understand how to be a successful entrepreneur. No it has not been easy there has been obstacles. But rather than get discouraged , I just go to my favorite scripture in the New King James Bible : Isaiah 54:17- No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD. I overcame them by being reminded that these are just tests, I will be successful , my business will prosper also I remind myself why I am doing this ; and that is to create a legacy for my family . I want to the world to know that Nicole is a Strong , Educated , Driven , Talented , GOD Fearing Small Business Event Planner who is determined to take my business to the next level to one day be featured in FORBES Magazine as The Top African American Woman Event Planner in the U.S.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would plan a road trip up to Sedona, AZ. Sedona has the most beautiful scenery, We would stay at Sky Rock Inn, which is voted as one of the best places to stay while visiting . We would do a little hiking on a few trails, We would then go up to Uptown Sedona and have some lunch .
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a Shoutout, to my family, My Husband Nick, My four Beautiful children, Rovelle, Aliyah, Akil and Nicholas and My Parents Ron and Rosemary and my Brother Chris . They are my reason why I go so hard to build my business and brand . Their support and encouragement is what keeps me going and knowing that I can accomplish anything I put my mind too! and achieve ultimate success I also want to Shoutout, My Sisters/Girlfriend’s Tolaydo, Norielle, Taniece, Tamara, Michelle and Tarita. for their unwavering and genuine support and encouragement.
