We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Gaxiola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, how do you think about risk?
Boy if I had a dollar for every time I second guessed myself when taking risks! lol All jokes aside, taking risks is part of the recipe to success! honestly, you need risk taking in order to succeed. No one ever succeeded by playing it safe. It would be too easy. When I decided to open up my studio, I was given a 55 page lease. I was not ready for that, I felt as if I was giving my life away lol no really, I told myself “Olivia, do you really want to do this?” here I was trying to find a way how to get out of it. However, I knew I needed to be uncomfortable. I also knew if I didn’t take that risk, I would have lived with resentment my whole life. And that was not an option for me. When an opportunity presents itself – take it. So I decided to sign the lease. Here I am (1) year in, and having gone through the worst in these covid times. I wouldn’t have traded anything for it. I am learning so much as I go through challenges. Life is supposed to be uncomfortable, hard and beautiful all at the same time. Next time you find yourself in a difficult position, know that growth comes from being uncomfortable.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a fitness studio that thrives on bringing powerful women together through fitness. We don’t just bring fitness, we also bring realness to the table. There is so much that us women go through as a whole. – we need a place to share and connect with others on. We provide effective exercise classes that tailor everyones fitness stage. Regardless on where you find yourself, we have a spot for you. You just don’t know it yet. Oh, and we always show up with a good playlist 😉
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s start by going on a morning hike up tumamoc hill! because if you didn’t hike tumamoc hill, did you really visit Tucson?! After that, we’ll head over to Mercado San Agustin, we’ll grab a breakfast burrito from Seis and a coffee from Presta. The best food and pastries can be found at Mercado San Agustin. As for an evening night out, we’ll grab drink at congress hotel outside in their beautiful patio! This bar/restaurant is located in Downtown Tucson! Going for a walk down congress is always nice too, you’ll spot our studio as you take a stroll 😉
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If there is one book I could hold onto forever it would be the one page marketing plan by Alan Dibb. This book helped me so much by understanding what exactly marketing was and how to approach it. I understood how to go about marketing my business and capturing my target audience. I created a one page marketing plan, and when I feel lost at times, I always refer back to it.
