We had the good fortune of connecting with Ose Sesay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ose, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

Risk is expected as part of the road map to success. At some point, we need to acknowledge that our path in life in is the hands of God. It can be daunting to let God have control, but we must trust the process and we will see growth in both our personal and professional life.

I consider starting a business as a way of building generational wealth. I believe entrepreneurship when done correctly, is the key out of poverty. I valued working in a traditional 9-5 job, but I knew it would never allow me to become who I was destined to be.

After being challenged to change my name to get a job in corporate America, I refused on the put in a box and decided to pursue my passion for coaching. I took the risk and launched my consulting firm, Push Strategist LLC, aimed at coaching and finding opportunities for Foreign F1 students, professionals, entrepreneurs and the community that serves them.

Taking a risk, is it easy? Not quite. Can it be rewarding? Yes, beyond words. Taking a risk in life can be intimidating because there is no guaranteed outcome. Thoughts of fear have crippled so many people and limited their abilities. We must combat fear with faith.

When God opens the door of opportunity, walk through it! I decided to take the walk to pursue purpose through my business. If I did not, I would not be writing this two years later, still winning!! My advice to you is allow yourself to walk forward on your path to purpose every day and be intentional about it. We don’t know what is ahead but there is a big chance that it’s even better than what is behind us!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Push Strategist LLC is a firm that thrusts BIPOC professionals into their purpose— turning ideas into profit generating businesses. With Ose Sesay’s knowledge of hiring, entrepreneurship, people, and passion for change, she truly pushes clients into their purpose.

As a first-generation American, my parents and I struggled to navigate the many complexities of the U.S economic system. These barriers make it difficult for many Immigrants and their children to have access to knowledge and tools that can help them excel in careers and business.

After facing my own challenges because of systemic racism, I decided to create a firm that educates decision makers on inclusion strategies in the workplace while empowering immigrants, refugees, and people of color to build wealth through entrepreneurship.

My passion has enabled me to help hundreds of BIPOC talent and small businesses. There may be challenges, but I refuse to focus on them. Giving up is not an option because systematic inequality in economic opportunities still exist for many communities of color. My team of strategist and I will continue to advocate for the BIPOC community because we have experienced the challenges and represent the Asian, African, and Latino communities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

You got me! I travel for leisure and haven’t been the best at taking advantage of all that Minnesota has to offer. Here are a few spots I would recommend:

Food:

Himalayan Grill- The food is consistent and one of the best in the twin cities! I would say best in MN because they have their kitchen down to a science with the spices and it has yet to fail me or the many guests I bring!

Fun:

Skaalvenn Distillery! The environment is so laid back, great music and even if you do not drink, you will enjoy the tucked away experience.

Relax:

Taking a nice walk around the 10,000 lakes in the cities in the summer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

This shoutout is dedicated to several special people in my corner:

First, shoutout to my beautiful twin daughters. At Mommy’s lowest, they pray for me. When Mommy needs to know she’s on the right track, they are the first to let me know. When Mommy is not doing something right, they aren’t afraid to tell me either! They deserve so much recognition for pushing mommy to her purpose.

My husband for allowing me to do what I love and never doubting but always supporting, loving, being patience, and teaching me how to strengthen my skills in business and beyond.

My siblings and parents for encouraging me to keep going during many of the challenges that come along on the journey of business! Whenever business calls, they never hesitate to step in to love and nurture my children. I am so blessed!

Julie and John for taking a chance on Push Strategist LLC! My first major contract came from their team because they decided to give my firm an opportunity to show them what we are made of!

Anisa, Audia & Pang for being Push Strategist LLC cheerleaders and sounding board!

Last but NEVER LEAST, with God all things are possible, He allows me to live free, dream BIG and keep pushing!
