Meet Parshe Johnson | CEO of Sugar Star Sweet Treats

We had the good fortune of connecting with Parshe Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Parshe, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to leave a beautiful legacy for my daughters. I am doing most of the hard work now. My business now has 2 federal trademarks, a LLC and I am currently in the process of becoming a minority certified business. Securing these things now protects the Sugar Star Brand and will open doors for endless possibilities for my girls in the future. Right now I do all the baking. By the time they take over they will have employees doing the baking. Their jobs will be to lead because Mom put in the work. I would love to see them turn Sugar Star Sweet Treats into a household name. I want to see our baked goods in grocery stores and our line of bakeware in department stores. I can see it now.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is simply consistency. I am going to consistently be where the crowds are, consistently interact with my consumers and consistently produce quality products. I truly believe consistency is the key to success. I am excited for that consistency to pay off in the form of my BIG BREAK! I am hoping for my Cookie Vending Machine to take off so that I can purchase more to place all throughout the Valley. Right now the one and only machine is located at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Phoenix. I want to see my big pink cookie machines all over the Valley so people all throughout Arizona can enjoy my delicious cookies. I have been in the baking industry for almost 7 years and it has not been easy. But nothing worth having is easy. I have enjoyed the entire process and I really just love how happy people are when they eat my cookies. When people bite into my cookies I want them to taste how much love I put into preparing them. That’s what I want my brand to be known for.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to The Boom Boom Room for handcrafted cocktails, Black Sheep Wine Bar to listen to Father Daughter duo Painted Soul and the American Legion Post 65 for All About Food’s amazing catfish and fried green beans.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are several people who deserve credit for my success. It truly does take a village. For example, I was raised by a beautiful group of women. Both of my Grandmothers were amazing nurtures and cooks/bakers. They took so much joy in the food they prepared and they both loved their families so much. They were both honest and loved the Lord. I feel very fortunate to be able to grow up under such remarkable women.
