We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have taken a few leaps of faith in my life. Prior to being in Real Estate, I worked as an actor for a number of years. I left a sales job in my late 20’s and jumped in head first to that. I found moderate success and my risk was rewarded. When you bet on yourself and succeed, you gain a sense of ability to accomplish. When you take a risk and fail, you learn lessons how to improve for next time. Having taken risks throughout my life, I feel that I’ve always had risk taking as part of my success strategy and I account for it as best I can when goal planning. I moved to Arizona to bring my family closer to each other, but it was a risk to my real estate career. However I knew that with hard work and a bit of luck, I’d be okay. I’ve not only been okay since my move to Arizona, but have blown the doors off my expectations. My risk has certainly been rewarded.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My life, as many of ours, hasn’t played out how I thought it would. From going to college to be a teacher, moving away from that to go into sales, then making a crazy leap of faith away from a 6-figure sales job to try my hand at acting I have found myself to be a bit of a free spirit in approach to life. Then I had children. Realizing that need to provide for them and give them a solid presence, I collectively took my life’s experiences and found a career that is a perfect blend of everything: being a Realtor. You need to be part educator, part salesman, part performer, and use whatever creativity and ingenuity you have to be successful. I love it. I get to call upon my life’s lessons every day at work. It’s been challenging for sure given that there are no certainties in real estate and your next paycheck is 100% dependent upon your own work. I wouldn’t want it any other way. And I feel my clients understand my passion and work ethic and that keeps them wanting to work with me. Additionally, living in Arizona, and still working with clients in Los Angeles allows for me to help people with varying goals in life: moving, investment, portfolio growth, and more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona is a fantastic state with a wide-ranging climate and collection of activities related to it. If my college buddies came for a visit (as I often work to convince them to do, a shameless plug here for them to come visit) I would line up some world-class golf at courses like Troon North or We-Ko-Pah, dinner at some amazing restaurants around the city like Toca Madera, Kai (amazing, a MUST), or Durant’s (I love the vibe there, always have). The Roosevelt Row in downtown has become a great place to hit a little bar hopping and offers an alternative to the usual around town. From Westgate in Glendale, to the downtowns of Chandler and Gilbert, we’d have more than enough to keep us busy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are all a product of life’s experiences. I learned a tremendous amount about myself through my early life experiences playing high school sports, football in particular. I learned about teamwork, commitment, goal setting, hard work, and so much more. My high school teams were very successful and we won two state championships. So much of that experience informed my life and while there are dozens of people who played a role in that but I often point to our head coach, Doug Duvall, for bringing it all together for so many of us. He was an excellent role model, father figure, leader, and more to us young men and women. He deserves a bit of the credit for the person I am today.
