We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Comstock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Green Earth Landscaping & Construction, our work goes far beyond maintaining landscapes — it’s about improving the environment, strengthening our community, and building a more sustainable future in Northern Arizona:
-The Green Earth Pro-Bono program takes nominations from our neighbors to provide free residential clean ups to those who, for a variety of reasons, are no longer able to care for their property themselves.
– Our work enhances shared spaces — from HOA common areas to commercial properties — making them safer, more enjoyable, and more welcoming for residents and visitors. We also support local initiatives like Firewise community efforts, helping neighborhoods become more resilient to wildfire risks through thoughtful vegetation management and defensible space design.
– Green Earth is proud to be a local employer, providing stable, year-round jobs with opportunities for advancement. We invest in training and mentoring programs that help our team members build valuable skills, support their families, and grow meaningful careers in the green industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I purchased Green Earth Landscaping & Construction with three goals in mind:

– Provide a tangible benefit to the community I choose to live in.
– Provide a safe and secure workplace for those who live here with me
– Provide a means of sustaining my family while also enjoying the beautiful environment of the Verde Valley.

I didn’t know much about landscaping in Northern Arizona, and the first few years were tough. The Verde Valley is a very unique ecological zone that requires daily attention throughout the year. The biggest challenge was finding the right people to work with me in achieving these goals. If you have the right people, not only does the job become easier but it also is much more fun to tackle the issues each day! Green Earth truly cares about the landscapes we create and maintain!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Northern Arizona has so many natural attractions that it’s difficult to figure out how to fit in a representative agenda in just a week. From the quite, cool sunrises to the stunning sunsets – my worst day here is so much better than my best day anywhere else I’ve lived.

I would make sure that we made time to catch a few restaurants in Sedona: Mariposa, Elote and Picazzos. I would take them to sample the wonderful tequila collection and Mexican food at Calavera in Cottonwood. There would be time to catch some wine and live music in Cornville.

No trip to Arizona is complete without a visit to the Grand Canyon – one of our favorite things to do is to take those who have never seen it on a sunrise trip. Watching the Canyon wake up – the sequence from complete dark to the revelation of such stunning beauty in the quite of the morning is capable of bringing tears to my eyes.

Similarly, no trip to the Verde Valley is complete without taking in some of the hiking trails. My favorites are Cowpies, Mescal Trail, Bear Mountain and Cathedral Rock.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The true heroes behind Green Earth Landscaping & Construction are our employees — the hardworking men and women who show up every day ready to make the Verde Valley a more beautiful place to live. They are the heart and soul of our company and the reason we’re able to serve our community at such a high level.

From the crew members in the field who brave the Arizona sun to keep properties safe, healthy, and beautiful, to the crew leaders and office managers who solve problems on the fly and go above and beyond for our clients, their commitment is what makes Green Earth more than just a landscape company. They bring our values to life through their work ethic, craftsmanship, and care for the land and the people we serve.

This shoutout is for them — for the early mornings, the heavy lifting, the extra effort when no one’s watching, and the pride they take in doing the job right. Green Earth’s story is their story, and we’re honored to work alongside such an incredible team.
