We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Teran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Priscilla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love to travel, I like to visit a different part of the world every time I travel. Something I always like to include on my travels is signing up for a tour to learn more about the city I’m visiting, I like to learn about the history, architecture culture.. and their food!

In 2019 I took my kids to Hawaii, I had signed us up for a tour done by a local and thought “how cool that a local is going to show us around his city!” That’s when I got the idea! I started doing my research right away and I signed up on Airbnb and TripAdvisor that same night. It took me hours to do my research and put together the two profiles, but i was so excited about this new adventure and perfect way to earn extra money. I wanted to show Tucson visitors how amazing Tucson is!!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born in Tucson and raised in Mexico. I came back to the United States at age 14. I had four years to learn English to be ready to go to college. I decided to get into Education to teach English to help other students like me to learn English and inspire them to achieve their goals and dreams.

I am proud to say I am a first generation immigrant that not only graduated college as an English as a Second Language Teacher but also went back for my Masters degree in Information Resources and Library Science with a focus on Native American and Latino communities.

I am currently teaching Middle School English Language Development (ELD/ELL) classes to students that come from other countries, mostly Mexico and Africa.

On my free time I get to show people how amazing Tucson is, meet new interesting people and eat tacos!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I came up with the idea of becoming a tour guide because every time a friend or family member visited Tucson, I would show them around the Historic downtown area, tell them a couple of historical facts I knew then I would take them to my favorite taco shop to eat the most delicious tacos in town!

That’s when I thought, why not get paid to do what I like doing?!?!?

I like to take my clients to the Historic Downtown area and take them on a trip back in time, we get to talk about architecture, history, desert plants and even some scandalous gossip from back in the 1870’s that involves a tragic love triangle, we also visit a haunted hotel, the same hotel were John Dillinger and his gang got caught!        Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My encouragement and support comes from my wonderful clients! We get to spend 3.5-4 hours together learning, talking and laughing, it always becomes a pleasant morning tour full of memories and aha! moments.

Some of the reviews that warm my heart and encourage me to keep giving my clients their best experience ever!

“I experienced the tour with my three lifelong friends. We have all traveled the world extensively and taken many tours in many countries. We all enjoyed Priscilla’s tour so much, and agreed that it was one of the best tours we have been on! Priscilla is delightful, funny, kind and so knowledgeable about her beloved Tucson. She made the tour really entertaining, while still imparting the high points of Tucson and its history, present day information and the quirky things that make it special. Priscilla deserves at LEAST five stars for her great tour!” -Christine

Great tour for tourista’s or Tucsonians!
We loved the neighborhoods; the Mexican style homes were wonderful. We enjoyed Priscilla’s home grown knowledge of the city. This is definitely not a staid and trite tour — so much fun!
