We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Wellman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My business partner is my husband however we started as co-workers. Then we progressed to co-owners, then boyfriend and girlfriend and then husband and wife. Most people do this the other way around however this has been my dream come true. I get to work side by side with my best friend and it’s true that opposites attract. His weaknesses are my strengths and vice versa. We started our business in 2014 and when we did we worked what seemed like 24/7. Staying up till 3am or later/earlier was not uncommon. Now flash forward to 2020, we have a year and a half year old son. We choose dates in the calendar to take off so we can spend time with him. We never would have done this before however now it’s a necessity that we love to do and the best part is, we’re still making more money than ever before. We have learned what can be delegated and have become more efficient. This has given me peace and balance that I would have never experienced before. Before if I wasn’t working, I couldn’t relax. I didn’t feel productive. Now I can feel productive in a different way; teaching my son a word, or how to throw a ball in a hoop.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Financial Potion provides customized video marketing solutions in the form of production, editing, social media distribution, training and as of 2020 live streaming. There are a lot of production companies who will produce a quality video for you however they won’t take it the step forward to make sure it doesn’t collect digital dust. We regularly follow up with our clients to make sure they are using their videos and assist in getting them optimized on their social media accounts or connect with quality web designers if they need it. We are always always investing back into the company to get better equipment so we can provide a better product to our clients. When 2020 hit we pulled the trigger and invested in some live streaming equipment for quality HD live streams. We chose the name Financial Potion because we believe video is a businesses financial potion. We always want to provide the best video marketing options out there. When drones first came out and were big we knew we needed to get the commercial license and offer it to our clients. The road to success is not easy; it takes persistence. It takes persistence and the determination to be successful. The persistence and determination we have for our business to be successful we put into every project we work on. We will regularly follow up, are extremely reliable and always try to find a way to say yes and help someone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friends are nature lovers so I would start east close to home and show them The Lost Dutchman. Then we could go through various trails in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve till we make our way to Sedona. Other than packing food, we would want to stop at some of the local spots. One of my favorites would have to be Liberty Market in Downtown Gilbert and while you’re there why not stop by The Yard for some games. Another great place for food is República Empanada in downtown Mesa.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There has been so many people who have entered my life, however I need to give a shout out to two organizations in particular. The Women’s Enterprise Foundation and The National Association of Women Business Owners Phoenix Chapter. The Women’s Enterprise Foundation awarded me a scholarship to NAWBO Phoenix in 2016 since then I have been an active member and media Sponsor for NAWBO Phoenix. As I walk into a room physical or virtual, it’s a reunion with so many of my clients and I continue to gain clients and friends through this organization. Its a group of successful professional business owners that not only lift you up as a business owner yourself but as a person. The programs are always full of relevant content and the leadership of the organization truly cares about your business growth and success.
