We had the good fortune of connecting with Rae Dileo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rae, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Over time i have learned to adjust to equal time between work and time to get away and clear your head. I find allowing your self to step away, does show rewards when you come back to the work environment. Whether Im working on a new classical guitar piece or in the middle of a mix,and i am at a place of no impasse and i feel that i may be stuck. Taking the time away to clear your head. Whether a hike out in wilderness, bike ride or meditation, then when coming back to work I find that i surpass anything that was causing me to be at a place of stagnation. And I find the amount of accomplishment in that moment is truly rewarding. I think like everything in life there is a balance
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I spent my life in the music business as a recording engineer and composer of ambient music. The road was a long process of risk taking, dedication and passion. The key was placing myself into a situation at the right time and allowing my confidence to move me forward. As i grew older I realized to allow balance between my personal life and work so to not burn out and have the same passion and excitement as i did when i started over 30 years ago
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have found a few very special places i like to take a long hike. there are some beautiful canyons where i live that have been here thousands of years and will be around long after we are gone. Really puts things into perspective
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
