We had the good fortune of connecting with RO Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi RO, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Well I had been volunteering for other Veteran Organizations and noticed that they weren’t engaging with Veterans with what Veterans are looking for. I want to impact the Veterans that aren’t labeled as post 9/11 Veterans cause there seems to be alot of organizations that want to help the young Veterans but not anything out there for Veterans like myself or Veterans in general that aren’t combat or injured Veterans. I want to reach out to any Veterans that are looking for camaraderie or a family atmosphere where they can come with their families or just themselves and feel welcomed and can engage with other Veterans and feel comfortable. I also want to bring all the non profits/ VSO’s together to work together as a coalition and make our Veteran Community stronger working as a Unit than against one another.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Valors Veterans Community AZ was founded in 2018 as Valors on 8th. We are a recognized Veteran 501c3 in the state of Arizona. “We Engage with Veterans One Event at a Time.” which means we try to impact every Veteran we come across whether it’s food, clothing, social activities, volunteering in the community, cookouts or just hanging out drinking coffee. Whether they need a resource for employment or education, clothes for interviews or a haircut or sending them to our friends at Trio Veterans Upward Bound to see where they are at in getting the education or training that they may need to better themselves. We also give Veterans purpose in volunteering in the community with trash pick up, volunteering at races such as Ironman or the DBACKS 5k. We also partner up with other organizations and non profits to help the Veteran the best way possible to better themselves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question. I love the beach so we would have to go to San Diego to hangout at my favorite spot in the world. We would also make a trip to Las Vegas and Sedona to hangout in the outdoors and go hiking or biking and definitively do some golfing also all over Phoenix Metro area. I love being outdoors so we would have to do some cookouts as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a GREAT BIG SHOUTOUT to Mr. Bill Egan, USMC Veteran Juan Jimenez and US Army Veteran Tommy Lunetta for helping me find my WHY and PURPOSE in life besides my grandson DAMIAN and all the other Veterans that have helped me get to where i’m at today. I also want to give a SHOUTOUT to all of Valors Veterans Community Volunteers and Members that motivate me to be the best possible person everyday i wake up.
