We had the good fortune of connecting with Roberto Cordero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roberto, what’s your definition for success?
I define success as living my true purpose, peace of mind, and having a positive impact on the lives of people – by uplifting them and inspiring them to think and act in ways that they may not have considered before. Success isn’t defined by the amount of money in your bank account, it’s about the difference you make in your life and in peoples lives.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the Founder/Owner of an Arizona based media company, named RC Creative Media Co, specializing in photography and videography. I’ve been running the company full-time for only a year and wear all the hats which are: photographer, videographer, editor, and marketer. It definitely has not been an easy ride, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. No one said it would be easy. Every day I aim to live in such a way that if someone spoke badly about me and my company, no one would believe it. Never make room for a thought or action that is not based on your personal values. Ground every decision, personal and professional, in what you believe. When it comes to my clients, I go above any beyond, ensuring they love every process from scheduling a consultation, the consultation itself, and the session. I’m a people person and truly enjoy connecting with my clients and getting to know them on a visceral level. It’s true what they say… “People buy people, not products.” Being my age (24) and being self-taught has opened up different avenues of creativity. Seeing how photo and film is now, is totally different compared to how it was 10,20,30 years ago. I aim for quality over quantity, every time, I truly believe that’s what sets me apart. When a client invests in me is because they trust my vision and capabilities, and I’ll never want to disappoint. One of the biggest lessons, as cliche as it may sound, is to always believe in yourself. When no one else believes in you–when they say you don’t have the experience to start a business, or the skills to be a boss, or the right disposition for leadership–do everything in your power to prove them wrong. Acknowledge your skills and your strengths and work hard at attaining what you want. There’s so much strength and satisfaction in that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For beautiful scenic views and hikes, Piestewa Peak is on top of the list. at 2,610 feet is the second highest point in the Phoenix Mountains, after Camelback Mountain, and the third highest in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. It’s such a great workout and energetic way to start the morning or hit up in the evening to check out the sunset. As far as nightlight, Downtown Phoenix is the spot. A specific place would be Cobra Bar. Good music/people, vintage arcade games, and drinks – you can’t go wrong with that. On top of that, they have a food truck right outside the place. It’s walking distance to a lot of other night bars, such as Lustre Rooftop Bar and Valley Bar. You cant go wrong with that area. Roosevelt Row serves as a central hub for art and culture in the downtown Phoenix area. Whether you’re exploring Roosevelt Row on First Friday, Third Friday, or any other Friday in between, Roosevelt Row’s Arts District is the place to start. Tour galleries, venues and art-related spaces to see a variety of artwork and to enjoy the spirit and culture of the city, it’s too dope.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A major shoutout to my moms and pops – they’ve definitely instilled hard-work and determination within my life. Seeing their come up and providing for us pushed me to hone in on my craft, work extremely hard, and be the go-getter I am today. They are a huge part of why I’m very passionate and hold on to such an ambitious character. They’ve taught me to always do right, forget about the in crowd, know when to push/to let go, take risk. The most important thing they taught me was saving up, haha. I owe it all to them and I’ve promised that I’m going to give them everything they deserve once I reach that success peak. All in due time.
