We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, what’s your definition for success?
It’s all an inside job, to me. Of course, we need money in our world. So we go for material gains.

But once a certain level is achieved and satisfied, our happiness is not simply sourced from there.

Success to me is a balance of living. It takes a little self-examination to find out what really matters to us. Our principles, our character traits. To learn how to enhance the good and do away with the bad.

Success is this balance with a forward motion. Letting go of what doesn’t serve us anymore. And tapping into the good inside each one of us.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a writer. I have a love for language and words. Their flow, their rhythm. Their precise use.

It started with poetry long ago as a young man.
The way words can stir up emotions and resonate. Like reaching out to pluck a guitar string and playing a note or tune I recognize. That we all recognize.

These days I write mostly as a copywriter. That is, I write copy– advertisements, emails, sales letters etc.
It has re-engaged me in my writing. Reignited a love for words. And it keeps me writing every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely bring them to the Heard Museum, dedicated to the advancement of American Indian art.

There is a fascinating and troubling exhibit there about Indian Boarding School stories. It’s a part of American history that I myself didn’t know anything about. Eye-opening and wonderfully presented.

And if we had a week, I’d def take you up to Sedona and even the Grand Canyon…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friend Dave is an integral part of my balance. He is my reminder of what really matters. Of the gift that each new day presents. And of the work I can do to keep my place in the world and help others.

Mentorship goes a long way in shaping the life of a man or woman. I’m blessed to have several mentors now, in several fields of life. They help me by pointing out the way and showing me what they have done.

Things I can do too. Things they help me to do. To become a better person, or rather, to tap into the real me underneath it all.
The me that has so much to offer to the world. The me that isn’t just centered on himself but is connected to everything.

It is this connection to other humans, to every other human, and to everything in this beautiful life that Dave reminds of whenever we speak.
