We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Bouvier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Opening a plastic free salon was not going to be easy . I knew I had a challenge ahead of me but after 30 years in the industry I saw a Need for change. I no longer was willing to be surrounded by plastic bottles . I was no longer willing to pile into the landfills plastic bottle after plastic bottle. I was no longer willing to force my clients to do the same. I wanted to create a space where the art of hair and a stylists intentions for the planet could Collide too such a passionate presence….. you wanted to be involved. You wanted to be part of it. Wanted to make a difference and work with purpose. Clients wanted to look good but walk away knowing they didn’t harm the planet. Giving people the opportunity to not create the waste in the first place. Enter Golden Salon Berkeley. One year in and mission successfull.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was doing hair when I was born. I was licensed at 17. I’ve been slaying the game ever since. It took me ten years to realize I wanted to specialize in color. I dug my heels in and I’ve completely honed my craft. Color formulation really gets the scientist in me excited. I completely give all My success to continually educating myself on current trends , color applications, and clean chemical free color. What sets me apart is my continued passion in the hair industry and evolving the industry to a better place unapologetically.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I opened my business in honor of my sister. My plastic free crusader. She lost her life suddenly and I wanted to carry on in her legacy. My great grandfather opened his barber shop after the last pandemic and because of that I. knew everything would be ok.
