We had the good fortune of connecting with Rudy Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rudy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Its important to network with people with similar interest. Having similar interest opens doors to many opportunities. Respect one another and show up to set on time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m excited I recently won a Best Actor Award for short film About A Motel. This is my second award. I continued to pursue acting no matter how many things get in my way. Networking, Networking, Networking, listening and being a professional on set will always put you ahead of others. When it comes to acting everyone has a particular look and style casting directors are looking to hire. The hardest thing I tend to run into is auditioning. You can have 100 auditions under your belt and maybe land 0 to 1 call backs. This is part of the process of being an actor. There is a lot of disappointments and satisfaction. People always ask how do I deal with being turned down. That is an opened ended question. I don’t look back and move on to the next audition. There are many great actors and actresses out there I have to go against for the job. I’ve completed 45 different projects in Film, TV, Commercial and some voiceover work. I have roles as a Lead, Supporting, Principal and Featured Actor. Push to get experience add it to a resume and chrome around it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would travel Downtown to view many murals painted by local artist. Visit locally owned restaurants and micro breweries in the area. Maybe catch a concert at The historical Embassy theatre or maybe the Clyde Theatre. Depending on the mood there is also a locally Non profit organization movie theatre called Cinema Center. If that is not enough we can always catch a national concert at the Memorial Coliseum. Home to the Fort Wayne Komets Hockey, NBA G league Mad Ants. Centrally located downtown is Minor League baseball league named Tincaps affiliated with San Diego Padres.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my parents who brought me into the acting world when I was a teen. I didn’t act much as a teen but went through the process of acting classes and 2 agents. I would also like to thank Taylor Fredricks owner of Static Heart Productions. Thanks to social media I was able to help Taylor hang up posters for a Short Film he directed. This fell into the realm of being asked to act in one of his short films. From there I kept the fire burning and now have several credits in the acting world. I definitely have to thank my wife and kids for all the time I’m away from home to be on set.
