We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandy Stringham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
In the beginning of my small business I said YES!!! to every opportunity. Even if I had no clue what I was doing or how I would do it, I went to work, studied, tried and tested my limits. Also, throughout my time as an an entrepreneur I have learned to LISTEN to those that love me. My mom and my husband specifically. My mom was the one who told me to try my hand at baking sugar cookies and now it is my favorite thing to do! And my husband is my constant support as I work into the late hours of the night. Those close to you see your true potential and how you can use your skills to get even further than you had ever imagined. However, my number one factor behind any success I have had in life is to not be afraid to try new things or to fail when you try that new thing. When I fail I don’t see it as the end but just as a step toward where I’m meant to be. Success is in the place where you are afraid to go.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a sugar cookie artist that loves to make treats that are not only unique but delicious. I started out just making cakes for family get togethers and one day my aunt said “you should sell these!” But that was alot easier said than done. Of course I learned alot more about baking than when I had originally started out, but I was clueless to the business side of it. I feel that I have learned how to run a professional business that people want to refer there loved ones to. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so I understand in order to stand out you need to create relationships with fellow entrepreneurs in your community and of course with your clients and treat them sweetly 😉
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow, I feel so out of touch sometimes because I’ve been immersed in the #momlife. I’m also a pretty simple person who likes to just hang and eat good food. Good food is life for my hubby and I. But I would take my friends to hit up some paddle boarding at Tempe town lake, walk First Fridays, and I could not leave out the BEST tacos from Tacos Calafia in Peoria!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
ALL my family! Constant and unceasing support from the beginning ❤️
