We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara O’Meara & Yvonne Fedderson Sara O’Meara & Yvonne Fedderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara O’Meara & Yvonne Fedderson, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
“Ours was less of a ‘thought process’ and more of a ‘heart process’ when we discovered 11 orphaned children on the streets of Tokyo while performing for the troops in Japan during the war. They were cowering from a typhoon and we could not pass by without helping. What started as 11 little lives needing shelter became a mission that is now close to 11 million children rescued.” -Sara O’Meara
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“We are guided deeply by our faith. We always tell people, ‘Don’t look to us for all the answers. God is at the helm of our organization.’ When we work hard and hire the best professionals, we help God help us. At the end of the day, through countless challenges, the Holy Spirit has always uplifted our mission because it is based in the most sacred principles: the love of a child.” -Sara O’Meara
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
“We have so many business meetings all day, so we love how centrally located everything is in the Valley. The Biltmore and Phoenician, where we hold our Childhelp Drive the Dream Galas annually, are extra special because we get to gather all of our volunteers, donors, supporters and survivors in one room to fundraise for Phoenix’s children recovering from abuse and neglect. It is like a big reunion of loving hearts each year.” -Yvonne Fedderson
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“We have to give the greatest SHOUT OUT to our volunteers. They are the backbone of Childhelp. Some of them have been by our sides for over 60 years of service. Even the ones who have just joined us in the last 60 days show such heart, compassion and care for the children we all love.”-Yvonne Fedderson
