We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Since we moved to our farm 8 years ago, we have been asked to host many weddings here for friends and family. That is what started the idea of opening this place up to the community. The wide open space in the middle of a mesquite forest that is in the center of our farm has worked out really well in accommodating large groups. We have learned there is actually a big need for it. We love the beauty of this unique area and we wanted to share it. In addition to weddings we also do other events including sports programs, youth dances, nonprofit events, Quinceañeras & more.

What should our readers know about your business?
There are several reasons that I decided to open our property up to others for their special events. I love to see people happy and having a good time. Being a part of making that happen is an honor. It’s definitely quite a bit of work! Getting the property ready and coordinating a grand event like a wedding has many components that most people don’t realize. It is a lot of work to get everything just right. When I’m in the thick of it and we experience challenges or set backs sometimes I wonder why I started this in the first place.. but then when everything comes together and the guests are happy and the family is smiling, it is all worth it. Every wedding we have had here, the bride is thrilled and often cries happy tears and says the day was perfect. That brings me a lot of joy. Another reason I like what I do is that I enjoy the creative outlet that it is to stage the property and tend and care for the landscape. Plants and animals are my first love! When we aren’t hosting a wedding, you will find me planting a garden, milking a cow, checking on orchard trees, etc. We are a full functioning family farm! We raise our own food and try to be self sustaining. Nature is very healing and grounding. I never get tired of planting new trees plants or flowers that add so much to the ambience of the place! There is so much you can create partnering with Mother Nature!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When we have visitors, we send them to places where they can view the diversity of Tucson’s unique Sonoran Desert up close and personal! Some of my favorite places to go are the Saguaro National Park East, Madera Canyon, Sabino Canyon, or Empire Ranch.. if they don’t mind driving a little further, I send them up to Sonoita to drive by the vineyards and rolling hills of grass! SO BEAUTIFUL! For a unique Tucson food experience, we send them to El Guero Canelo to try their sonoran hot dogs or Eegee’s for an original grinder sub and a famous Eegee’s slush!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been so blessed to have parents who are very hard working and positive. I grew up believing that I could do whatever I set my mind to because of my parents encouragement and faith they had in me. My dad and my husband have successful businesses here in town as well. Through watching them I have felt courage and inspiration to do the same.
