We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Fraggis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
During the covid shut down we were limited on appointments we could make for beauty purposes. Since I was unable to keep up with my facials and anti-aing practices at my estheticians office, it lead me on the pursuit of finding a skincare method at home that could help get rid of wrinkles, improve my complexion and more. I stumbled across gua sha, facial cupping and intentional ways of taking care of your skin. I was blown away by my result. Not only was the process helping my wrinkles, complexion and double chin, it also was helping me breath better. By far my favorite were the compliments I received on my skin. It was like never before! I immediately enrolled in courses on how to properly use these tools, and I became so passionate in my vision. That vision was helping other woman know that there are natural practices that they can do at home to slow down the process of aging. I tried many different kinds of tools and oils and created the system from my experience of trial and error. Once we launched the company the amazing reviews came pouring in on how this skincare system was helping others. Since we are an organically grown business from real results, it is our promise to only launch products that deliver the best results in the market.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been a creative person with an entrepreneur mindset. I tell this story to people who ask what my past jobs were because I feel it is very relatable to other entrepreneurs. I started my career in sales. I’ve had 3 jobs in sales in which I always excelled. During these jobs, I’d always find myself depressed in what I was doing, the fire would burn out, and I’d end up leaving the position on my own accord. I used to think before creating my own company “What am I going to do for a job? I know I’m made for more but I’m so unhappy with my current position.” I felt like a misfit because I excelled at these jobs, but on a personal level I couldn’t handle it. I’m a self motivated person and for me work is easy if it is something I believe in and have the ability to be creative while acting on my own thoughts and ideas. I run on excitement and enthusiasm, so building a brand where I can create and show the world products which I know will help them has been a blessing. Creating this company was not an easy task. I had to remain motivated and take small steps everyday to reach my vision. I believed in this process, and I never stopped trusting in myself that it would be great, even through trials and tribulations. I personally think that is key! I knew I had something special that would help many, and deep down that is what truly mattered to me. Believing in yourself is undoubtedly my advice to other entrepreneurs, and the most important lesson that I have learned. I am excited for future growth, as well as helping others feel beautiful in their own skin.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Chicago is a cultural melting pot with a number of different attractions and places to eat. If I were to plan an itinerary for a friend I would start the day at my favorite juice bar in the city which is Pure Green Juice Bar in Wicker Park. Beginning the day with something healthy is a must especially if we’re going to tour the city. Depending on what they were interested in doing, we could get our shop on while walking Michigan Avenue. Not only does it have great selection of stores, but it is a lively area to be in. Another option would be to check out Chicago’s historic museums like the Field Museum or the Shedd Aquarium, which are conveniently located right next to each other, For lunch because food is everything in Chicago I’d take them to Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company in Lincoln Park. The pot pie pizza is iconic but my personal favorite is their to die for mediterranean flat bread. Pizza is a Chicago staple so I would take my guest to try other classics during the week, such as: Lou Malnatis, Pequods, Giordanos, and finally Ginos East. Pizza is not the only food Chicagoans take seriously, we also need to hit up staples like Portillos, Johnnies Beef, and Gene and Judes for a Chicago style hot dog and italian beef. Nothing is better then a Chicago summer so, hopefully my guest were visiting then and I would take them out on a boat to live it up in the PlayPen ( the cities most popular aquatic party scene). For Evening time in the city I would like to get dressed up and go to some of my favorite upscale cocktail bars and eateries. Lyra is a great new Greek restaurant with delicious cocktails and a classy vibe, RPM Steak is a great place to have a delicious meal. Lastly, Maple & Ash is a must. It not only has unique cocktails but is a really fun time with the music and atmosphere. All in all the best part of Chicago is the people, and as we tour and eat our way through the city you will meet plenty of them.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
During the launch of my company I had many who doubted me and many who supported me! I have to give recognition to both because those who doubted me (which I won’t name), were the people who made me push even harder. I will recognize two people in particular who never doubted me, cheered me on, and gave me the confidence and support to create this company. These two people are my Dad Sonny Peterman, and my step mom Maryann Peterman. I would talk to them both daily during the process of creating this business. My Dad, who is knowledgable in business, would support me and give me direction as well as motivate me. My step Mom Maryann is knowledgable in this industry, and it has been such a blessing to have her work with me. She has both tried on and helped create products that I have come up with. She has also given me the confidence I need to keep moving and pushing to create more incredible skincare essentials.
