We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Jeffers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Thinking Out of the Box would be the most important factor in my success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets my music apart from others is my out-of-the-box approach. I find inspiration while traveling and I enjoy learning about various deeply rooted cultural techniques that have influenced local styles of music. In some cases this has made it more difficult to get jobs as most venues don’t want to take a risk on something that’s not considered a popular style. On the other hand, being a large fish in a small pond has led to a more dedicated following and allowed me to follow my passion regardless of what the mainstream scene is doing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some fun things I enjoy sharing with my out of town friends are bike rides on the Arizona Canal Trail, visiting Tempe Town Lake, and hiking Camelback Mountain. Also, hitting Mill Ave for sushi, or checking out local Irish bands at Rúla Búla Irish Pub.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Working with Producer Ken Mary was an important step on my journey. I’ve learned a lot from him on how to improve my recording techniques. Most importantly, his intense work ethic inspired me to throw myself into my music just as hard.
